We need Rivers and Bain

Bain back would be a huge help, but our problems on D run deeper than that. Need an infusion of speed and athleticism in the secondary first of all. VT WRs catching uncontested balls all night long. Need more size on the line as well. Going against the the more physical, run-orientated teams in CFB with beefed up DEs playing DT is not a recipe for success

Just yeah we need them Bain is the key and Cam needs to tighten up just a bit

Our DTs are suspect, our OL has no depth, and we cannot generate pressure with 4 (and oh by the way not new to this game) and people are surprised by this? Watch the games, this team is not top 5. We were always gonna be very fringe top 12 but this VT team is *** it was an embarrassing performance by many

We did not dominate the trenches like we have been, but we did not get "whooped". I'd say their OL won versus our DL, but overall our OL still won versus their DL. Martinez and Fletcher both averaged more than 4 yards per carry. We racked up 500 yards. It's impossible to do that and not win the battle overall up front. We need to commit more to the run when teams back off against Cam. Rivers will obviously help.

I'm more concerned with the missed tackles than our DL. VT schemed it well. Bain is gonna make a difference. But the linebackers scare me.

On passing plays, our OL got beat several times, and Bell especially struggled. But overall they held up on their assignments. The reason we had breakdowns was because Va Tech was bringing heat on nearly every play. The short game was available and we should have been getting the ball out much faster. Instead Cam took way too long to develop plays or wasn't on the same page as his safety options in many cases. He was off, it happens. He's still the best QB we've had in 30 years.

They need to go back to the drawing board with the run game. Martinez is struggling in our formations, I feel for the guy because he has talent, but he's not the right RB for this team unless Dawson and Ward are willing to change up their playcalling and scheme. Fletcher and Lyle seem better suited for what we do, as does Allen. Why wasn't he in the game? And I know we love tight formations. But maybe we should be a little more multiple there? Seemed like just one defender needed just one step to disrupt a run.

The backers did a poor job on wrapping up all game. It seemed like guys were breaking tackles all over the place.

Dawson has to keep calling the plays. I’m glad Cam has freedom to make changes, but today Cam seemed to be caught up in the hype. It felt like he was always trying to make the big play.
Agreed. Hopefully this is the midseason lesson for him. TBF, a night like this was the concern with Cam, and he still played well enough to win. We're lucky to have him.

I’m hoping this knocked these boys down a few pegs.. idk if they were feeling themselves or not.. but this should be a real eye opener.
This. They needed a wake up call. We are good, but not good enough that we can just show up and turn it on in the second half of a game and beat everyone on our schedule.

Time to get back to work.

I'm just gonna say it one more time…And I'll probably get dragged

YOU AREN'T GOING TO WIN A SHIP if you never play hurt. Baron gutted it out tonite… As he was limping badly, and I was glad to see him show heart and play through it. But some guys that are nursing some things need to get on the field. No one is 100% or even 90 during the dog days of a football season.

No ****!!! I’ve been saying this while everyone else acted like this is some Georgia type loaded roster. Two of your best players on the bench is never good.

Baron is exhausted and hampered by a hamstring. Barrow is now beat up. Alston is injured.

Miami is extremely beat up.
Francis limped off the field in pain too. Hopefully he is ok

We need Brown back too. Popo to get more snaps. Richards less snaps. Lyle to get more touches. CJ to get touches that aren’t only telegraphed wheel routes and screens
