We need a change at DC. Sorry but this is inexcusable...

Ive been pretty **** supportive and I still have a lot of faith in Al Golden. I think this team is headed in the right direction, but Im sorry, this Defense is the worst thing I have ever seen. There is simply NO excuse for this. We are playing worse than a Division 1AA team on D.

I get that we are young, and we lost depth and have no leadership, but there is NO excuse for our defense to be almost dead last in Division 1, and we may be dead last after tonight. We cant stop anyone in almost any situation. This is the WORST defense I have ever seen at UM.

I dont care how good a buddy Donofrio is with Golden, no one whose unit is as bad as this should be allowed to keep their job. Our DC and DL coach need to go now. This is simply inexcusable.

Golden is more likely to let Dnofrio bang his wife than he is to fire him.They're practically brothers,Golden loves the man.
 
I just refuse to believe the talent is that bad. It's not 1997 with scholarship losses and two powerhouses in Gainesville and Tally.

Then he's going to sink his career for him. Because this guy isnt going to get it done here. We WERE almost dead last in Defense going INTO this game. We just gave up 375 yards of RUSHING. ND just broke rushing records on us. This was a national humiliation. We cant stop ANYONE. How many times have teams even punted on us this season? We are half way through, and Id be shocked if we have forced 10-12 punts all season. We are TERRIBLE.
 
Man, I remember when I thought Miami's defenses sucked when they were throwing out defenses ranked in the 40's nationally...

Miami's D one of the worst defenses in the nation.
 
D'Onofrio was his DC for 5 years.

Golden is cool with the scheme. He ain't canning his boy after 2 years. It ain't happening. Just pray that it gets better with recruiting and experience.

Its not. Look, our DL is horrible. We lost a TON of guys last year, and have no depth or leadership. But we are better than this. Im not expecting a good defense. Im not even expecting an average defense. But this is beyond ridiculous. We seriously look like a Div IAA team on D. This is not even a Division I calibur defense. And we have talent to be much better than this.

This guy is NOT getting it done. And Franklin needs to be gone yesterday. The DL seems to be regressing.

Yes we are young, but this is High School caliber garbage that this guy is putting on the field.

Franklin will be the sacrificial lamb. Count on that. But, IMO if golden truly cares about his legacy he'll go beyond that.

I really think we may be either dead last, or one or two off of dead last after this. Absolutely shocking.
 
I thought Corch Kehoe and Corch Swasey would be the ones to sink Golden. But DOnofrio is the corch that could actually be the one to do it.

I do think our DLine is that bad, and unfortunately that's what you need most to win. I get the plan, but we arent getting to the QB.

This scheme fails when we're on the field for so long and have weak sub packages (rotating DLs, nickel, dime). Our corners arent good enough to blitz more either, so it's a ****** situation. But if we tackled better and got off blocks, I think we'd be fine.
 
Butch Davis was "buddies" with Bill Miller too, and he did what he had to do when he realized his entire career might go down in flames.

I hope Al has the guts to do what is necessary. This is about more than just "buddies". He owes it to these kids who he has made promises to. He owes them the BEST he can get to be on his staff, and Im sorry, but Donofrio honestly barely seems like he should even be a Division I DC.
 
Get rid of this guy!!!!!!!! Y are we plying 7-10 yards off the recevers? They just run 7 yard combacks.
They might be young but they have talent. This D is the worst ever!!!! The dline sucks!!!!!! I am ****ed off at Donfario this is unacceptable!!!!!!!!!!

The fact that CANE4LIFE is saying this tells me all I need to know - when a reasonable guy like him is ready to throw in the towel on this putrid effort, you know it's real bad.

doubt it...our scheme sucks. Even when he tries to change it up the opposing coaches catch him and call a play that counters our scheme. Do'Noshyttboutdefense needs to go
 
Notre Dame's DC made adjustments. Donofrio made none. I cannot count how many times ND ran that wide sweep play and no one was ever in site for 5 yards. The really sad thing is i feel that ND offense was playing with about 80% effort half way through the 3rd quarter to the end of the game. And they still could not stop them.
 
I absolutely think Franklin is gone after this season. Unless there is a DRAMATIC turnaround, Golden is going to HAVE to do something.

I dont think some of you cats realize just how BAD this defense is. If not for the offense pulling out some miracles, and the 4-5 turnovers we got against BC, we could be 1-5 right now. The only game we have won solidly was Bethune. Tonight was just astounding. These guys just ran the same play against us, over and over and over again. 375 yards of RUSHING. IN ONE GAME. And its NOT just today. Its been all year. Are you going to tell me that with all the kids we have recruited in the last few years that we should have a worse defense than FIU, Ball State, Toledo, Akron, New Mexico??? We were 114 out of 120 BEFORE tonight. Think about THAT.
