The "talent" argument is the biggest crock of **** going.

Blaming kids like AJ Highsmith for this ****ing failure. It's embarrassing. Duke would be ****ing thrilled to have a kid as good as AJ Highsmith or Cornelius...or whoever the **** else some of our fans want to blame.

While I agree talent isn't an issue I wouldn't go that far. Highsmith and Cornelius are terrible players but its on Golden and D'O because they still play them. I can say without doubt that Highsmith isn't a D1 safety.

Highsmith was horrific again. Watch his whiff on the late 50+ yard run that set up the score that basically stretched their lead and put us away.

He looks like that kid in your high school team that shouldn't be on the team and you wouldn't even pick on a flag football team but your coaches aren't allowed to cut players because someone in the school district believes in pussifying our children.

I will say this, I heard the commentators bring up a single high safety a ton.. that makes it inexplicable that duke was getting so much chunk yardage on run plays. And while we do have scheme issues I don't think scheme was the main reason we were getting our **** pushed back.

Awesome post, Lu. I'm shocked Will Likely was a 3 star. He looks very dynamic as a return man. Maryland had half their team including all their playmakers, yet they punched Vag Tech in the mouth all day in Vag Tech's house. It was a very fun game to watch.

If you mean talent running a 40, bench press, shuttle time, then maybe we have more talent. If you mean diagnosing plays, tackling, covering, and actually playing football then no we dont have more talent on D then VT, GT and Duke.

I dont really understand the ****ing match between everyone on here. We can all agree the coach D needs to go, but the talent we have playing right now no matter what scheme I dont believe is better than a 40-50 ranked defense.

Our defense was top 20 through around 5 games. When we played teams that have a pulse we sucked.

Football talent has everything to do with poor tackling, taking bad angles, getting pushed 3 yards of the ball every play, having poor awareness while the ball is in the air, linebackers who run in quicksand, a rb who runs over 4 people on an 18 yard run, or guys tackling each other. All this happened yesterday.

You are fooling yourself if you think Bud Foster takes this group of players starting here and has the #1 defense in the country like he does at VT.

We need a coach to put players in a position to succeed and we need players who succeed when they are in position. Right now both are missing.

I would like to think we do. I only follow the canes. Look at draft projections this year. From what some have said no Mia players, and many others have a few or more. I don't even care about nfl projections really. I want college football players, not prototype non performing late draft picks.
On paper I would think we are more talented. But you can't measure heart and determination.
The defense is broken what ever can change needs to change, from coaches to players. Just on principle alone. Just in case your right and it is all coaching. And just in case I am right that players stink. Change everything humanly possible about this d. It is that bad.
