We all knew THEY were paying players long before these NIL deals started.

I saw video of Joe Bosa telling a reporter that the Chargers initial offer to him when he was a first round draft pick was less money than he was making at Ohio State. Ive looked for that video and cannot find it but did find this article noting it. (below) And you'll notice no one opened an NCAA investigation over these comments.

That sort of stuff not being questioned is the same reason that Urban Meyer will be hired in CFB, and within a few months celebrated in the same media that criticized him yesterday. With the latter complaints never mentioned again.

You can't find that video because it doesn't exist. This is a straight-up joke article. You think the NCAA has the power to scrub a quote off the internet... from everywhere except a satire website?? Come on bro.

(Btw, Bosa probably was getting paid at Ohio State, but let's not peddle fake news.)

It’s so easy to pay players one example :

The player is at Publix the booster sends a runner to DROP a envelope on the floor behind the player saying :

Young man you dropped something behind you the player says OH THANK YOU sir and picks up the payment.

DONE , not rocket science

Hahahaha so that’s how you think it’s done 🤔 It’s not as cloak and dagger as you think. Not trolling you, but this isn’t a Cold War era movie.

The biggest beneficiary of NIL is the IRS, and state tax departments.
All this money used to change hands under the table and the IRS got nothing. Now they will get income tax form every player. That was a behind the scenes reason why NIL has become a thing.

well good news maybe with the taxes that will now have to be paid on all this money we can start reducing the national debt and get my taxes lowered..

I hear you , what I’m trying to say is it’s as easy as that.

It’s not rocket science to give an envelope or something like that inconspicuously.

Like putting something under the fender well of a car or at the mall dropping it in your basket.

Anyway it’s easy to give anyone money.

It's been going on for 50+ years. Read a book called "A Payroll to Meet" about the SMU program. They were far from the only ones doing it. The NCAA thought they were gonna put a stop to it when they gave SMU the death penalty. Instead SMU became a lesson for the NCAA in why they needed to turn their back on this activity.

I compare it to the quote from economist Milton Friedman on the drug war. Its the same for the NCAA and the major programs. The role of the NCAA is to protect the criminal activity of the bigtime programs.

If only more people had the basic understanding that this man is so eloquently able to describe of economics and the role that basic incentives play in human nature and human society... Sigh.

Just know that every time you hear a politician attacking "the rich" or "big business", that is code for them protecting the rich and big business. And they are protecting them from you. Just like the NCAA protects Baga and UT from Miami.
