Warning: Bored watching Pitt/Clem Looong.. and that's not all.
In the ACC every week we're coming up against gimmick offenses for at least the first half in most cases. In the ACC teams seem to take chances against us I rarely see they do against other teams. They stormed the field after a win . I am not sure if that would happen in a Big Ten loss. 4 and 5 and 6 weeks of having to prepare for these different quote and quote gimmick offenses, and a myriad of fourth down fakes and trickeries. Every week dealing with teams going all out (injuries be dammed) nothing to lose basically.
In the Big Ten we would just be another Power Team and we would probably see more traditional type offense and defense consistently. These teams are going to play to their strengths, High recruits on defense and offense and skill players. So our preparation would be simpler in many aspects, at least more consistent and a chance to really get better. Again, not saying that playing these different skill sets every week is not going to get you better, but eventually after a while one of them may get you, especially in the recent one where they had two weeks to prepare. Timing was everything in that game. Not making excuses as to why we should not win the ACC this year and for the foreseen future with Mario at the helm. But after 6 or 7 weeks, I TOO get tired of seeing these gimmick offenses over and over and over and over and over and over.

2 points here.

When Miami comes to town, it’s like a NC game.

Secondly, with our offense, opposing teams know they have to try and out score us so they try everything in the book to do so. Guidry has said several times our D sees things early from opponents offenses not shown on tape. Granted, we haven’t played well the last few games but we get caught off guard some too.

Be careful what you ask for...yes, the BIG 10 pays a lot more and is a much stronger league, but Miami playing in Columbus, State College, Ann Arbor and Madison in November is a recipe for disaster. In addition to cold weather, those stadiums are packed with 100K+ (except Madison), which the ACC can't compare to as they aren't football schools

And what if those fans are mean to away teams?

We’ve learned this year our fan base can’t handle it.

Gone soft.

I miss our defense.

I also miss paragraphs. Page breaks.

Actually Time of Possession is the secret code. Instead of running up the score, just keep our O on the bench.

Other teams wouldn’t turn to gimmicks, like pre snap motion and jet sweeps, if UM were able to stop those gimmicks.

Also, I didn’t realize pre snap motion and jet sweeps were gimmicks.
This 👆🏼

3rd grade OCs know to keep running a successful play until the other team stops it. We haven’t set an edge in 6 weeks so why would any opposing OC not copy what we’ve struggled with?

Our defensive issue is all on us
I generally blame coaching when every aspect of defense is bad
Now that coaches have a year of film on Guidry
It’s clear that they are simply out scheming him
That seems to be exactly what is happening. I really overrated Guidry. I liked what he did last year and I was looking forward to seeing how he would coach the defense this year with a clear lack of depth and talent in the secondary. I can see now after 10 games that Guidry has no answers for what teams are doing to us. He is far too reliant on man coverage and he is a compulsive stunter in addition to not caring about setting an edge. He has a few tricks he goes to constantly but once you have tape on him you realize he isn't very versatile as a DC and that he is way in over his head at this level. His shtick may work in G5 but he doesn't nearly have the chops to be a P4 DC. Get him out of my face. Nothing personal as he's a nice enough guy and a good dude but he can't be the DC here. Mario needs to do a whole heck of a lot better going forward.
