Walton 24 TDs in 24 games

He's slightly above average. He's not elite nor is he a good back; he's got subpar vision and frequently misses open running lanes.

He's still our best back though imo

This is just silly man. Frequently missed open lanes? There aren't many open lanes behind this dumpster fire of an OL. He may not be elite yet, but to say he's not good and slightly above average is rough. He's got elite hands and is a major threat out of the backfield and if we knew how to throw to he running backs he would showcase that more often. He's got good burst and although he may not be 4.4 I have yet to see him get run down from behind. Not to mention he eats glass and ***** out nails he's so **** tough. The coaches love him teammates seem to hold him in high regard by all accounts.

Oh and did I mention he runs behind a putrid OL? The OL that has Gall at C McDoormat at T, St. Louis the human turnstile at RT and Gauthier who got released from the witness protection program 2 weeks ago.

Walton is a good back who could very well be one of the better ones this school has produced by the time he graduates.

He's very good when the hole is there. Good physical abilities and runs hard. He just has poor vision.

His last 2 games have been the best in his career so maybe he's improving.

Vision is improving. He just performed well enough against the number 3 run defense in the nation.

Walton's getting better.

Great job by Herndon on that play too. Even if Walton doesn't break through it's still a decent gain for a 1st down.

He's definitely getting better as the season's gone on. He seems to have more patience in letting blocking develop. That last TD run he would've ran up one of our lineman's backs for a one yard game at the beginning of the season. Instead he showed patience in finding the cutback lane.

He has elite balance. His speed/quickness have improved and are good. He makes people miss and he can run through/over people. He's a complete back running behind a patchwork O-line. Sky's the limit for him.

What I see is a young player who is developing right in front of our eyes. He obviously hasn't put it all together yet but many here talk as though he is a finished product and his weaknesses cannot be improved upon which I disagree with. For example, one of the big knocks on Walton is his vision or lack thereof. While I agree that he does not display elite vision, I expect him to significantly improve upon this aspect of his game before he leaves here.

I also see a kid who is never going to wow you with homerun hitting speed or natural God given ability. What I do see a tough kid who will not be outworked and will maximize his natural ability. Walton is the type of back that slowly grows on you and the type that many will begin to fully appreciate once he leaves. Walton is a versatile, dependable, productive and durable RB with great balance who is in the process of learning the finer points of his craft while developing the physical attributes needed to apply them. Walton took a big step this year in terms of his development and I fully expect him to take another next year and the year after as I expect him to stay all 4 years.

He is a more talented Mike James. I see a lot of similarities in their games.

He definitely improved as the season went along and seems to have better vision running now. He really struggled during October but has been great these last 3 games.

24 TDs at least 5 called back yet people want Gus the mini van to start. lol

I agree with the poster that said he is wishy washy when it comes to the Walton bandwagon. But he always seems to make a play when you least expect it. Im through with Gus unless its for pass pro. Let him go to Syracuse as a grad transfer if he wants. We have given this guy so many chances under two diff staffs to show us something and he cant. People say our OL stinks (which is true) but Walton has still found a way to rush for 1k yards and make plays and key TDs by breaking tackles and determination.

I still like Yearby as the #2 back though. But looks like Gus has taken that spot. Somethings gotta give next year though because we might have potentially 6 RBs on the roster. (Gus, Walton, Yearby, Homer, Burns, McFarland)....So Yearby or Gus might have to make a decision next year. Cant keep both IMO esp if we want to see what Homer really has at RB and not switch him to DB.
