VT has the best defense in the country???

Good defense but that offense will lose them multiple ACC games this year. Miami just needs to handle their business. Getting GT and VT at home is huge. We have crushed GT the last 2 games they came to Sun Life.

I'd have a hard time calling them a 'great' defense. They're good.

I would say that they are a well coached defense with a lot of really young talent. They are not elite and they are not great, but they have the potential to be in the next couple of years. The problem you run in to if your VT is the ****** offense. VT was able to sustain drives against GT, which they werent able to do vs Alabama and they wont be able to do against good teams in the ACC.

Don't look now, but Vag Tech has a great defense. Not good. Not above average. Great. This is one of those years where everything is in place for Pud. He's got a couple great DTs. A great LB. And some really good DBs. He's got players at all 3 levels, and those motherfckers are going to be a bear.

Everything is in place for Bud but the team as a whole will suffer greatly because of that offense. That offense can't do much.

If you can put up 21 points against VT and limit turnovers, that is a game you win.

Their defense is so good that all they need to do is burn clock and manage to put up about 17 points, and they'll be a tough out. Thomas actually looked like he did in 2011 last night. I think he was 19-25 or something like that. Telling you guys right now that this will be a knock down drag out war.

Jessie Palmer usually has a very defined analytical assessment despite being a gayturd.
I was in complete shock when he said this. I do believe they have a good D, but to declare them as having the best "Defense in the nation" - this **** is getting high on the mountains of Costa Rica for shooo.

I see no problem with this

Truth on the part in bold. As for Thomas, I am not putting too much into his performance against GT. Their inability to run the ball is what really kills them, they will have difficulty getting 17 IMO. One of their TDs was on a short field when the "Self Impaler" held the ball like Michael J. Fox.

Our game with them is so far away but if it were next week, I would expect a war. I would expect a really close physical game. Who has a better offense? UF (with Driskel) or VT?

Side note: How bad is Paul Johnson? When he went for it on 4th down instead of punting with all his timeouts?

If their offense was even respectable then they would be in consideration for having the best defense in the country. But their inability to move the football will be their Achilles heel and put too much strain on their defense so I don't think they'll finish near the top. I also don't think they have been tested, I don't think georgia techs offense is as good as some think and marshall moved the ball in them easily. Alabama and ECU arent exactly prolific offenses

I've said it before... You can't gage Logan Thomas' performance against a Ted Roof defense. Roof is a horrible DC and people in Auburn wanted him tortured & killed before he was fired! That GaTech defense is a really bad defense with one real playmaker (Attaochu) and one good DT. We will hold VaTech to less than 10 points and win by at least 14.

Preparing for and shutting down GT's mickey mouse offense can make any Defense look elite. On the flipside, if GT has their O clicking, they can make any D look grade-school. I wasnt impressed by either team. They have two Sunday players in Fuller and Hopkins, but outside of that they can get burned by a competent offense.

VT's defense is good but its overrated.....

the SEC ESPN **** suckers have to make an excuse as to why Alabama's offense looked so pathetic against them..... since it was Alabama it has to be b/c VT has the best defense in the country. smh

Like I said VT's defense is good but they did give up 21 to Marshall, Marshall is solid but it's Marshall.

They have a good but overrated d-line.... no real rotating depth and only 1 real threat which is Hopkins but he's not better then our starting DTs imo.

Their LBs are garbage

Their Safeties are garbage

Kyle Fuller is the only experienced corner thats very good..... Kendall Fuller and Brandon Facsyon are just true freshman, they have the talent, but they are just freshman. So their cornerback talent overrall is overrated.

Where we benefit against a secondary like VaTech's is because we have competent TE's, WR's & a running game. We will rush for 100+ yards against that defensive line. They have one very good MLB in Jack Tyler but we will still pick up on avg 5 ypc. They can't leave their safeties back or else we will run all day on them like we did last year. That'll open up the passing attack to the TE's & WR's.

Again, this is about their defensive performance against Alabama. Alabama had 66 yards rushing last week against Colorado State. Colorado State's defense gave up 203 yards rushing against Cal Poly the week before and 215 yards rushing against Tulsa. Tech's defense looks good so far, but not even close to their best in the last 5 to 10 years.

VT will be a tough game. Their D looks plenty good enough to stop what we've shown on O so far, and both are likely to get better between now and then. This sets up like another UFudgepacker game to me.
