Did anybody else think that statement made by Jesse Palmer last night was a bit....pre-mature? I am sure that the defense is solid as it always is under Bud Foster but the "best defense in the country". I was pretty surprised to hear that. Does anybody have any thoughts on that?

Might not be the best but that dl and secondary are as good as anyone not named Florida. That's with Easley though...

I was at the game. 98 is a beast. He stood out. Fuller was all over the place. To me this was a good defense that just knows how to play the option. GT was not stout enough upfront to allow any of the triple option crap to develop. VT corners do look suspect though. They were beaten deep multiple times. Lee is terrible though at throwing deep ball.

This is based on shutting down Alabama. Well, news flash, Alabama had 66 yards rushing and 332 yards of total offense against a bad Colorado State team. Georgia Tech gets shut down by good defenses.

VT almost always shuts down GT's option, and please tell me no one who gets paid to analyze college football was impressed with VT shutting down GT's passing game. Anyway, VT's defense is good, but they are not elite, and their offense is G-d awful.

Any game vs VT (and FSU for that matter) is all about field position and turnovers. If you don't turn the ball over and win the field position game by having to play on a shorter filed, you can win. The running game would be key too, but usually their D neutralizes the running game.

The bottom line with them is to not let Logan Thomas get into a rhythm like he did in 2011.

It has nothing to do with rhythm. It's not like he was threading the needle. We were just not good that year. No pass rush and couldn't cover anything. We gave up a 1 play 80 yard drive in that game. People get upset that we lost that game, but I thought we were extremely competitive against a team better than us and it showed how Fisch owned Foster the two years they played each other.

They do seem to have a good defense. The D played great last night and they were missing some key players. It always helps when you know the other team is 1 dimensional and you really only have to prepare for one thing... That said, their DL and makeshift LBs were in the backfield all night long.

marshall moved the ball pretty well against them. If MIAMI runs an actual up-tempo offense, the turkeys will have problems.

The are a very good defense but the Best is WAAAYY over the top.

A combination of Bud Foster Scheme's with Fuller, Hopkins play and GT ineptitude on offense was the story. GT actually move the ball on them deep into there territory multiple times but **** themselves with penalties, turnovers and Johnson's stubborness.

I think this Game showed more about VT's offense and how they beat the blitz and how GT defense wasn't that good once VT made their adj.

No, Thomas is not a thread-the-needle type of passer, but he did have video game type numbers against our young D back then. If Logan start completing passes, his confidence build up, like for most QBs. However, if we can disrupt their O, I love our chances in defeating them.

One thing Palmer said is that VT had NFL talent on O in 2011. That's definitely not the case this year... But make no bones about it, the game may end up being a slobber-knocker type of game. Miami's U-Tough vs VT's Lunch Pail D.

Exum will be back for Miami by then too. They have a pretty **** stout defensive backfield and a d line PLENTY capable of giving our o line a hard time. Those writing off VT are getting way to up on the Florida win.

Don't look now, but Vag Tech has a great defense. Not good. Not above average. Great. This is one of those years where everything is in place for Pud. He's got a couple great DTs. A great LB. And some really good DBs. He's got players at all 3 levels, and those motherfckers are going to be a bear.

Jessie Palmer usually has a very defined analytical assessment despite being a gayturd.
I was in complete shock when he said this. I do believe they have a good D, but to declare them as having the best "Defense in the nation" - this **** is getting high on the mountains of Costa Rica for shooo.
