It happened because of the walks. And there it is - happens all the time after a guy is cruising like he was. Knew we had to score first today.

Also seems like the type of ball Lala got to in CF as a freshmanOmg!!! This is the tradeoff of not playing Jenkins. He gets to that ball easily.
No command of anything. He would just walk the next guy to start another rally.Day done for Mederos after his first hit allowed. Really not sure why with the bases cleared.
He does it seemingly every weekI hope scane wasn't clairvoyant with his comparison to Slade - don't want Victor to throw in a crooked number inning every start and be lights out the rest.
I would have preferred he work through it also vs leave on that note after how well he pitched the first 4 innings.Day done for Mederos after his first hit allowed. Really not sure why with the bases cleared.
Sometimes all of takes to get out of rhythm is getting in the stretch. Credit to the kid that leadoff the inning. Wish we had somebody who would step up and have an AB that changes things like that kid.It happened because of the walks.
I think not being able to command pitches is a bigger issue than needing Tony Jenkins in there to catch balls hit off the wall.
Both Lala and Jenkins make that play. It's not CDC's fault. He's not a center fielder. He's out of position. It's just the decision to go with bats over defense. It is what it isAlso seems like the type of ball Lala got to in CF as a freshman
I mostly wanted to save a little more of the bullpen for tomorrow but maybe Smith isn’t in the plan and eats the rest of the gameI would have preferred he work through it also vs leave on that note after how well he pitched the first 4 innings.
Why not flip them then to scane's point? Both Lala and Jenkins make that play. It's not CDC's fault. He's not a center fielder. He's out of position. It's just the decision to go with bats over defense. It is what it is
I already commented on the pitching. Both things can be and are true.I think not being able to command pitches is a bigger issue than needing Tony Jenkins in there to catch balls hit off the wall.
I don't understand it myself. Lala should be in center if Jenkins isn't in the game. Why not flip them then to scane's point?
Doesn’t tend to be this kind of crooked number of course, but looking through the box scores to make sure it isn’t recency bias, he gives up runs and gets pulled with relatively low pitch counts in the 5th or 6th inning in most starts. Most analogous is his NC Stare outing where he was pulled with 54 pitches in the 5th.He does it seemingly every week
Saw that as well - early start?80% chance of rain in Charlottesville tomorrow between 2pm and 7pm. 90% before 11am.
Probably try, but if the morning rain verifies I don’t know if that’s enough of a window to dry the field and play the game.Saw that as well - early start?
