VIDEO: Guidry explains 3-3-5 adjustment

Kam Kinchens said Guidry does an incredible job prepping the players for games and that everyone gets the answers to the test.

Evidently, the guys on this team don't watch the amount of film they're supposed to watch.
But Kinchens probably ignored what Guidry said more than any other player so I'm not sure how much weight that holds

Kinchens watched more tape than anyone else, at least he gave a ****.

If he played within the structure, he was the top dawg, if he didn't... well...

There's several options to defend that formation and play.

This would be our base call...

This gives you an alley defender (F) who should be unblocked. The H-back has to deal with the (R) who is holding contain...
Which also occupies the H-back and keeps him from reaching the (W) Linebacker.
The (W) and (F) should be screaming to the alley unblocked. 🤷🏻‍♂️

You have these options as well...

🤷🏻‍♂️
You drawing it out and making it seem so simple is making me even more depressed about the defense

So on this play Guidry called for a Bear Front (5-front)...

However...
They just stayed in the base alignment and didn't adjust to the unbalanced set.

We (at the HS level) run a ton of Bear Front versus heavy formations... but even our kids know to slide the front to the unbalanced side.
On this play we would've made a simple "Over!" call to slide our front to the strong/unbalanced side.
This would give us a 1-technique, 5-technique and 7-technique to the play side. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Pretty simple stuff.
Dude the idea that we can’t literally identify the strong side of a formation and shift the front that way leads me to think that specifically is just coaching. I mean if you look at the play it makes it more obvious why they didn’t shade over: we had 2 of the lineman slanting TO THE WEAKSIDE with the Weakside end lopping around. Thats a play call. And clearly Mauigoa was supposed to be lined up over the TE like he was pretty much all game long, but then putting the rb out pushed him to follow because the cb didn’t want to go out there for some reason. Thats also what doesn’t make sense…?

This has been my point for weeks now - they are making our DLine completely useless. Just ******* line them up shifted to the strong side of the formation and don’t run a single stunt for the rest of the season at this point.

So, GT did nothing they hadn’t already shown. They have a gutty QB who can’t throw the ball. We, in theory, possess all the resources needed within the building. We have a DC as well as a Hall of Famer coaching DEs. And this isn’t a one game deal. We’ve been gashed all season on the perimeter to the point that you see it before it even happens. We have an elite offense - most prolific in program history - coupled with a defense destined to derail any championship hopes.
Pardon my rant. What the **** is going on?

IMO Guidry is doing too much.
Just lineup and play football.

I don't know man. I would kill to coach defense beside an offense like ours.
Makes my job as a DC a lot easier.

When I know that my offense can score, I can just lineup and play sound defense. My logic is - don't give up anything easy/stupid and make the opposing offense make more plays than ours. (which is highly unlikely)

For the number of staffers and analysts at miami, I can’t comprehend how Guidry’s gameplan and strategy are being fully supported

There are glaring issues, many of which have nothing to do with talent

Who would have thought that our defense full of south Florida divas like James Williams, Kam Kinchens and Leonard Taylor would be a million times better than this one full “good culture” guys?

If the same thing is happening all year, it could be coaching.

Unless anybody here believes that our players are THAT bad and/or THAT stupid.
Reminds me of Greg Williams when he was with the rams. His scheme was honestly too confusing for players. Worked well at certain stops but not so much others depending on if you can pick up the scheme.

It doesn't matter if you're 4-3, 3-3-5, 4-2-5, etc. That's just personnel. None of that determines alignment and assignment.

At some point all of those defenses morph into the same thing. 🤷🏻‍♂️

What matters most is alignment and eyes.
Alignment, reads and keys.

I agree with you

Unfortunately, those critical aspects are hard to find in Guidry’s 2024 defense, especially GaTech game

For tech they had no bullets. Line up and play simple and fast.

Now you know against a Texas or Oregon that wouldn’t work but against tech just line up
