Ventrell Miller

I read an article about a month ago that they were trying to flip Bradley Jennings from the Creminoles. I wonder if that is still in play.

We will take 3 LBs. There will be more attrition from the current roster.

I hope we do take 3 in Steed, Miller and Wilder. Just like other positions on the roster, we have players at LB that don't belong at Miami.

There's no way in **** we pass on 1 of the monster LBs in the 2017 class just to keep a guy like McCray on the roster. Plenty of other bustos on the roster who will be trimmed. There will be lots of room for 2017.

Agreed, I really hope we take 3 or 4 because we need to replace guys that should not see the field with better talent.

how many linebackers would you guys typically like to see on a 4-3 team?

Sr. Jermaine Grace
Jr. Juwon Young
JR. Darrion Owens (how did he not get med redshirt last year?)
RSo. Terry McCray
RSo. Mike Smith
So. Charles Perry
So. James King
RFr. Jamie Gordinier
Fr. Zach McCloud
Fr. Shaquille Quarterman
Fr. Michael Pinckney

we have 4 sophomores(potentially 5 if darrion owens did in fact get a med redshirt last year). all of whom may get passed on the depth chart by the 3 freshman currently on the roster. at least 1, potentially 2 of them can transfer to a better situation for them.

agree with the franchise. with our roster returning to a full 85 in 2017, no reason why we dont end up taking 3 LB's, at least, this year.

Not a chance in **** we take less than 3 this year, DDD. The LB crop is too bountiful to have it die on the vine while rotten tomatoes languish on the roster.

Sr. Jermaine Grace - last year, so not important to this year's recruiting class
Jr. Juwon Young - one year left, so not important to this year's recruiting class
JR. Darrion Owens - one year left, so not important to this year's recruiting class
RSo. Terry McCray - surprised he's still here, clearly lacks footspeed to play on a conference champion level team
RSo. Mike Smith - I really loved this kid out of high school and he's got a lot of great attributes, but prob. not a starter on a conf. champion team. Depth.
So. Charles Perry - Good depth guy and nice to have at LB, would like to see him get some run at FB.
So. James King - c'mon
RFr. Jamie Gordinier - sounds like he has some promise, but is this dude starting over Shaq, Pinck, Zach, Steed, Wilder, etc? You upgrade when you can.
Fr. Zach McCloud
Fr. Shaquille Quarterman
Fr. Michael Pinckney

2 years from now I'd like to see the depth chart look something like this:
1s & 2s legitimately competing to be the guy: Shaq, Pinck, Zach, Steed, Wilder, Perry
3s - Smith, Gordinier, Houston (or whoever our 3rd guy is this year)

10's a good number, and those guys (plus whoever we sign in 18) are monsters. That's an Alabama, FSU, etc. caliber LB corps

.
Good news we have like 3 to 5 lbs who will gone after the this year . 1 senior and 4 juniors and sophomore who will be passed up in depth

I agree! If Miller ain't a take then I don't know who is. He's everything I look for in a LB'er. I'd hate to come up against a LB'er more fast and vicious than him.

Especially when he is better than a lot of the ones on the team now

King is at safety now so he doesn't count towards the numbers at LB.

So realistically. 1 senior in Grace, 1 junior in Young, 3 redshirt sophomores in Owens, McCray & Smith. 1 sophomore in Perry. 1 redshirt freshman in Gordinier and then the 3 true freshmen (2 starting already and the other is already working with second team coming off a injury)

Grace graduates and I would expect to see at least 1 or 2 transfers from older guys who get passed up this year on the depth chart at LB.

Feel like staff is going by the book right now since no transfers yet but I can definitely see 3 LB class after transfers happen and dust settles. Give me Steed, Miller & Wilder. That would be a great LB class and get us toward quality depth at the position.
