That would be because the Soviets were personally responsible for tens of millions of deaths by concentration camps, labor camps, firing squad, starvation, etc..
They are also responsible for the proliferation of Marxism Leninism across the globe and its intent on controlling and enslaving the entire free world.
You should try living in a Communist country sometime and then get back to us with your enlightened opinions.
Your drift is full of shlt.
You’re basically implying our soldiers were raping pillaging on a wide scale which is so far from the truth. How fūcking dare you. Now the Russians that’s another matter. When they came through Germany from the east they had no problem raping anything that was in their way. They were brutal. But not the Americans.
And fūck each and every citizen of Germany in World War II. They were all pretty much complicit in the annihilation or the attempted annihilation of the Jews. I’m glad they burned Dresden (fūck you, Kurt Vonnegut) to the ground. They got what they deserved.
Next time, don’t go gaga over a nobody homicidal fūcking psychotic corporal.
Maybe they're lying - but I doubt it. I think war is a nasty thing, and nasty things happen during war.
You have to be one of the dumbest motherfūckers on here. To compare American soldiers conduct to the Russians or the ***** is about the lowest piece of shlt I’ve ever read on here.
No, not all soldiers are the same. Had anything happened to the extent that you were even implying, it would’ve gotten out. That shlt never gets held down you fūcking dumbass. Go talk your shlt to an ex-marine, watch what happens to your face
Interesting, but I don’t see it working out.
I can think of one analogy:
US has been sending young soccer players to Europe for decades, and we haven’t had even one player make it big over there in soccer.
And a lot more Americans play soccer than Europeans play football.
It’s not that easy when you don’t have decent competition around you every day, great coaching, and when you’re not around football all the time.
Because basketball is way more popular in Europe than football.
Basketball in europe is like hockey over here....minor, but people do watch it.
Football in Europe is like cricket in the US. Most people have heard of it, but nobody knows the rules, have never seen it on TV, and have little interest in playing or getting involved in it.
Thinking WE'RE crazy and unhinged is the most crazy and unhinged thing I've seen or heard. There's a survey done every year where they ask people from different countries what they think of different countries around the world. In Germany's case, something like 80% of Americans said they like Germany, but only like 20% of Germans said they like America. So we like them, but they can't stand us.
A lot of it is historic. Even though they know they were on the wrong side of the war, a lot of the older folks remembered being carpet bombed by the Americans and they passed that memory on to their kids and grandkids. And even though we were on the right side of that war, and the vast majority of our soldiers were good people, at the end of the day.... it's war.... and a lot of brutal things happen when you take an 18 year old kid from Iowa who's been freezing, shot at, and hasn't been laid in a year, and you send him in to an undefended rural town full of women and children, if you catch my drift.
Also, about half of that country was East Germany before the wall came down, and they were basically a Soviet puppet state. We're all taught over here that the Russians are evil and that everybody who lived under them were miserable, but the world is complicated. Actually a lot of Germans liked the Russians, are very pro-communist, and they side with Russia over the United States. This is especially true in Berlin and eastern Germany.
Add to that, they don't like our politics. Because they lived through WW1 and WW2 in the most personal way, they don't like wars. We happen to start a lot of wars. Because they were the country that brought the world Adolf Hitler, and he was always talking about "rah rah Germany first," they have a deep fear of patriotism and nationalism. We're very patriotic over here and wave our flag everywhere. They remember the military buildup before WW2 and so they don't like military spending. We spend a fortune on our military. Etc etc. Basically, they think we're crazy and unhinged.
I'd love to know how that number compares to the number of rapes by German soldiers, the SS and other organizations. Concentration camp inmates were often raped by Germans in large numbers.A study in the Journal of Military History done by Robert J. Lilly estimates that a total of 14,000 civilian women in England, France and Germany were raped by American GIs during World War II.

Now calm the **** down and get a hold of yourself.
If you want to believe that 18 year old Russian soldiers are so different from 18 year old American soldiers.... I actually don't blame you. Not everyone can see through government propaganda - that's why propaganda is so effective. And not everyone can handle the fact that the world isn't black and white, morally. At that time in our history, there was a vested interest in the American public believing that we were the good guys with no questions asked. And, for the most part, we were the good guys.
It wasn't until the Vietnam War that Americans really started to question the conduct of our soldiers on the front line.
The ****'s were ******* terrible. I think everyone can agree with that.
But look... I wasn't in WW2, and neither were you. I'm just recounting the stories I have heard from people in Germany. Maybe they're lying - but I doubt it. I think war is a nasty thing, and nasty things happen during war. Wars are fought by human beings, not superheros. Try going through an entire winter outdoors, being shelled, gassed, shot at, watching your buddies die in front of you, all at the age of 18. Yeah, some of them snapped and did some things. It wasn't always as pretty as the movies make it out to be. Sorry.
The question was asked why Germans don't like Americans, and I answered. War brings out the worst in people - even American people.
As my name implies I am German and will try to comment on some topics in this thread. This is my personal point of view but fits to a big group of people in Germany I think.
In the 80´s and 90´s a couple of Football teams were founded in Germany mainly most of them through GI´s or Americans working for the military in Germany. Those teams are mainly in the area of big military bases. (e.g. Mainz Golden Eagles and Wiesbaden Phantoms since at that time we had really big bases around here). Only through personal friendships or some coincidence you started playing football at that time. At the weekends we met at our American friends houses and watched AFN or listended to AFN radio).
In the 00´s it started that games where shown on really small networks and later on it moved into pay TV channels. At that time Football was gaining a little bit more exposure.
At that time also NFL Europe started and led to even bigger exposure especially in Germany (e.g. Frankurt Galaxy always had the highest attendance figures). This led to the superbowl being talked about also in bigger networks.
But the jumpstart was bascially Sebastian "Seabass" Vollmer of the Patriots since he started playing Football in Germany before he went to college and finally becoming a Super Bowl winner. (before there was Tom Nuetten on the 99 rams team but he was only "half" German and left Germany when he was little). Those kind of stories (later on Bjoern Werner from **** and Moritz Boehringer who only played in Germany and was drafted by the Vikings) were a topic in all sports networks.
So currently 2-3 NFL games are shown on a big network each week with people like Werner or Markus Kuhn (former Giants DT) as commentators.
Football is gaining popularity especially with kids and people up to their twenties. It will never beat soccer in popularity but compared to when I played in the 90´s and 00´s the coaching is much better. There are also better coaching clinics available and also Football related performance centers popping up. As mentioned in a comment earlier also Werner is helping kids along finding scholarships in the US. But they also concentrate on sending kids to highschools in the US earlier.
Now my political comment (of course I do not speak for all Germans...)
Germans like Americans quite a lot. We mainly watch "your" movies and shows and tend to have a quite similar lifestyle.
What irritates us is your openly shown patriotism, but this is based on our own history and we accept that as something american we cannot understand.
We see America and Germany as friends and brothers with the same basic believes but this feeling is getting weaker the last 2 years based on the America First politics by your leadership. But I think this topic does not belong on this board.
To sum up:
We like you, some of us love Football, and I bleed orange and green!!

This book and it’s author have been thoroughly discredited.
You are pathetic.
Was there bad behavior by US forces? Without question. Was it, and does it remain an incredibly small percentage of the total force? Absolutely without question.
- The book was reviewed by, not written for, JMH
- If memory serves, it was also reviewed by The Australian Army War College
- Both pubs felt it was extensively researched, but made fairly bold leaps in assumptions based on military court records and news articles at the time
- Several noted historians have taken issue with the central premise that rape was a primary tool used by American forces
- Several "academics" who have come out in favor of the work, coincidentally, are also highly in favor/part of the "if she says it happened it was definitely rape" club
- It was first published in France or Belgium (cant remember), not US
Lilly attempts to tackle are very difficult topic. Unfortunately, his thrust of rape as a central military tool, just discredits his discussion and diminshes the serious points (very few) that he was trying to make.
