UVA Game winning drive

there are no doubt talent and depth issues on defense. there are a lot of kids out there playing that should be on the bench BUT you can't convince me that the defensive woes are all due to youth and lack of talent. D'No is getting schooled on the reg.

if we were loaded with all americans and pro bowlers, the players would be able to overcome it to some extent but we would still see these periods of mind bogglingly awful defense

Na we dont want a great defense..I would just like a defense that isnt dead last in the phucking country...

First off, we stopped them on 4th down. That wasn't a penalty. The kids still fought, but it's tough when you're still getting screwed by the refs drive after drive. The last play was a really good throw and catch. It is what it is.

People want to point to UVA's record but they are a better team than that and their coach isn't one who would let them give up on their season.

Hate when people say this. No their not, because if they were they wouldn't have the record they have.

Some people say that. Some people say that they don't value the opinions of people who don't know the difference between "their" and "they're." I mean, you used the word they twice right after that.

Meanwhile, the Saints beat the Falcons today. ATM beat Bama. **** happens. London is a good coach. They ****ed up earlier in the season but they weren't going to lay down. Add to that, the refs were clearly against us. I hate to be a conspiracy guy, but I don't think the ACC wants us in the title game. Not sure they want Duke either but they don't have much choice.

No one on defense makes a play in crunch time. Coach D looks like a genius if one of our DL would have come up with a sack or two or a DB actually covers someone and makes a play on the ball without committing a penalty. Right now we have one legit playmaker on the whole team, Duke.

Wait, are the people saying we should have used timeouts serious? They scored the winning play with 6 seconds left...and you want to give them more time? UVA nearly ****ed up the game management by not calling the TO's themselves, why would we want to give them more time? One more play was all we needed...

When your defense has given up 35 points in the game why would you have confidence in them? Atleast with say 25-40 seconds left your offense has a chance. Also with the timeouts you can atleast be lined up for the plays which we have struggled with all year and not panic and call a play where your most disruptive defensive lineman (Curtis Porter) is dropping into the flats on the go ahead score. But hey what do I know?

Dropping Porter into coverage is laughable. What's Dorito thinking?!?!?!?!?

Y exactly do you drop your best pass rusher into coverage? He was getting push right up the middle, the one place qbs truly hate pressure.

the irony is that the refs gave us a gift with the safety call then screwed us repeatedly after that.

IF they make the correct call on the non-safety we probably win or go to over time. if UVA was only down by 3 on their last drive, they kick a FG

It seems that every football weekend its the same **** over and over. The other teams qb looks like tom brady and their running backs look like herschel walker and bo jackson. And we can't forget that some white slow TE is always wide ******* open over the middle for a first down whenever the defense forces the other team into a 3rd and 20 situation. I know dorito won't get fired, but he should be. No miami defense should be this bad. At worst 50th in the country. Not 117th in the country bad or whatever it is. I just know that having a defense in the triple digits is unacceptable regardless of the youth out there.

ACC Stats

Scoring Defense = 11th 31.2/Gm
Total Defense = 12th 489.6/Gm
Rushing Defense = 12th 231.6/Gm
Pass Defense = 9th 258.6/Gm
Opponent 1st Downs = 12th 26.2/Gm
Opponent 3rd Down Conversions = 11th 45.3%
Time of Possession = 12th 25:26

It's amazing this team is .500.

Dorito cannot stop anyone period, let alone on 3rd downs. He can't get his guys off the field, ever. I think they converted two 4th and longs on that drive, too.

The D1 teams we've played this year average 3 punts a game against us. Let that sink in.

This holds some weight. Remember the UNC game last year? We won because Spence blitzed, sacked Renner and that play basically won the game.

i truly believe ...Golden told Fisch to go conservative on the lst drive...knowing fisch he wanted to thro w it instead of running 3 times....

Golden for whatever reason wants to win on D....Maybe cuz he knows everyone down here HATES his BFF and he wants to have the ability to say.."when it came down to it the defense stood up today".....

*Major F ups on last drive

- We held on to timeouts...Why?...We had his fav term.."young guys" in there..why not after they started moving the ball get those guys up to speed and come up with something
- The tired *** delayed blitz.....What was the reason for running that Soft *** blitz..especially when Rocco was in shot gun..and dude was continually getting the ball out quickly to his 1ST option. That blitz just opened the middle of the field even more.
-Back to timeouts....At one point in the final drive we looked like our defense was trying to do the "Cupid shuffle". No one was set or ready to play..thats on the coaches...We had Ricardo Muhfuggin Williams in on plays during the series....dude has yet to play as a Cane ..yet he was in at the biggest moment of game. What the **** were we thinking?
- Going soft in the redzone after bltzing seemingly every other play..... How do u go soft..drop guys like Gionni Pual back in covg....?? Explain that...? dude is TURRIBLE in covg...but yet hes matched up one on one with their best pass catcher at te..? And even at times he was matched up one on one with UVA'S fastest wr.

I honestly think Coach No Frio just flat out is in over his head. This is worse than when Walton got the DC job and wasnt ready. Dude is worried about being multiple, subbing in abunch of guys, does he not realize this isnt the MAC.

The way I see we were a sack away from winning that game. We could not get there. We rushed 4, we sent an extra guy, 2 extra guys. Did not lay a hand on Rocco. And then on the final play we played coverage and we lost the TE in the back of the endzone. I did not like how far our safeties where on that second 4th and 7 play. Finnie gave up both first downs on 4th down. McGee was only on the field a few plays. The only reason I would have called a TO was to get Finnie off the **** field and get McGee back in. Finnie was toast that entire drive.

us getting a sack wouldnt have even mattered...they still had a timeout pocketed.....which they would have called and convert a 3rd or 4th and 20 with

wanna know why Finnie was toast...because they knew the middle would be open...add to it our safeties play 30 yds deep then at the snap run to the sidelines. Like i called it as it was happening..No fri is P*SSY...he is scared of giving up the big play so bad..he is cool with just get gashed..all the while hoping that the other team F*CK'S Up...which is why he did what he did dropping the whole team back in a zone yet still giving up a td.

wanna know why we didnt lay a hand on Rocco...well because we ran predictable blitzes..we stay the same pre snap...and dude is able to just take the snap and hit his 1st read....HE DID THE EXACT SAME THING LAST YEAR. That whole last drive while watching the game with my ol man..i called out the open receivers PRE SNAP....I even called the touchdown to the tightend...my dad looked at me like i was Bill Walsh or something...Nope...Our defense is just that EASY to figure out and exploit.

Maybe you should be our QB coach then. Since ppl are stuck in the glory years here. When was it ever about Miami's scheme? Da U was built on dominating the guy in front of you. Randy Shannon went from Guru to Corch? Larry Coker went from Guru to Corch?
Bottom line is there isn't anyone on our D who executes his assignment and beats his man every play.
