Up to #8 in AP, up to #7 in the Coaches poll

I said this earlier but feels like every year our fans talk about how trashy the ACC is and our schedule is always so weak but by the time the end of the year rolls around it actually isn’t at all

I dunno. Long way to go

Part of the problem is there’s just no *** appeal to any of the teams in the ACC sans Miami, Clemson and FSU. If a team like Pitt goes 11-1 everyone shrugs their shoulders and doesn’t pay attention.

That scintillating ACC championship game a few years back between Wake and Pitt drew less viewers than the AAC championship game did.

I still don’t think most people have come to terms with how much harder it’s going to be to be truly dominant in the NIL era. People are all over this thread talking about “We don’t look like a top 10 team” but there are not 10 teams that look better than us, and the lack of truly elite depth is catching up to the Alabama’s and Georgia’s of the world and raising the floor of the conferences.

Louisville worries me, but if we can’t come off a bye week and fix the explosive play issues on defense we have bigger problems. I think we’re a lot less likely to get paper cut to death than in years past, which is a less correctable issue imo.
this...we look closer to the top 3-4 teams than we have looked in a long time. the only thing I fear is that alot of that is due to cam ward.

A lot of that IS due to Cam Ward, and despite a D with huge holes.

Because what if the conference isn’t that ******* weak. What if Pitt is actually a good football team. What if SMU is actually a good football team. What if Cal who beat an SEC team on the road is actually a pretty good football team.

Louisville played the number 12 team in the country on the road and had the ball in plus territory with 2 minutes to go in a one score game. They lose that game by 7, lose to a 5-1 SMU team by 7 and are out of the polls. Ole Miss loses to a 3-3 Kentucky team at home and a 5-1 LSU and is still in the top 20 despite having zero good wins. It’s idiotic. We shouldn’t have to run the ******* table to feel like we’ll make the playoffs when other teams aren’t held to that. Oklahoma was ranked top 20 before getting throttled 34-3, despite having no good wins and getting taken to the wire by an awful Houston team. Vanderbilt is getting talked about like they’re a tremendous football team just to avoid admitting that Bama got their *** kicked by a mediocre team.

I don’t know why so many are dug in on this “polls don’t matter” bull**** when your reasoning is that as long as we win EVERY game we can overcome them. You’re admitting right there that they matter.
don't have to win every game...just have to win the ACCCG....

Not only difficult to build a dominant team, but also team cohesion is bound to suffer. I think that's why we are going to see more "upsets" in college football now, and far fewer dynasties.

My guess on the new top 10

1. Oregon
2. Georgia
3. Penn State
4. Ohio State
5. Miami
6. Texas
7. LSU
8. Tennessee
9. Clemson
10. Notre Dame
In a group text I just guessed a top six of
1) Oregon
2) Penn State
3) Georgia
4) Texas
5) Ohio State
6) Miami

I'm a little iffy on 4-5, but I'm just assuming they will put as many one loss teams ahead of us as they can.

Miami will stay at 6. If they keep playing like this but stay undefeated they'll never get below 5.
I think FSU and Duke are so anemic offensively that even Miami’s defense will keep them below 21.

Way too early predictions…

Miami 38, FSU 17
Miami 48, Duke 20

But you’re right, the Canes will still stay at 6th since the Norvell’s and Diaz’s are worse than bad.
