Up to #11 in AP, up to #10 in the Coaches poll

I’ve said from the beginning, no 10-2 ACC team is getting an at large spot. It’ll be all sec/big 10 teams with the media machines behind them pushing 9-3 Ole Miss or 9-3 Michigan or whoever it is for those finals spots.

I didn't even say 10-2. I'm saying we could get snubbed at 12-1 if we lose the ACC-CG to Clemson. Clemson could get snubbed at 11-2 if we beat them in the ACC-CG.

The ACC hate is real.

I doubt it
We're high enough now that if we lose, say, next week, we will get back into the top 12 by the end of the season. If we lose late, we won't drop out of the top 12. And, I don't think the committee will choose a 2 loss team that didn't make their conference championship game over one that did.

Only way I see Miami getting snubbed at 11-1 (Conference Championship loss) would be:

1) Clemson absolutely smashing us.
2) Cam get's injured so they punish us like F$U last season.

And even then I still think they put us through. There's going to be Conference Champions with more than one loss that will not be ahead of us in the rankings.

The Ap rankings don’t matter. The cfb rankings could have us higher or lower

assuming we beat cal convincingly, we'll be top 5 by the time we play lousiville on 10/19

10/12 games
  • #3 Ohio State @ #6 Oregon on 10/12 - guessing oregon loss but doesn't matter
  • #7 Penn State @ #13 USC on 10/12 - guessing penn state loss but doesn't matter as penn state will lose later on
10/19 games
  • #5 UGA plays @ #2 Texas (guess we'd rather UGA lose and be out of it all)
  • #1 Bama plays @ #4 Tennessee - we'd probably prefer bama just keep winning and hand out L's to all other SEC teams
actually pretty wild that all 7 teams above us play someone ranked in the top #13 in the next two weeks

very realistic outcome is ohio state beating oregon, USC beating penn state, Texas beating UGA, Bama beating tennessee

if we beat cal and Louisville and the above happens, we'll be #4 come 10/26 against FSU behind bama, texas, and ohio state

I can't believe some of you guys think that we should be ranked above UGA. Have you watched college football this year? Did you watch last night's game? Realistically who have we beaten? 4/5 of our wins have been against garbage teams and the nation believes that we should have lost against VT. Meanwhile, some people are clamoring on here that Clemson is amazing and that they should get in at 11-2. Newsflash...UGA destroyed them 34-3.

We are ranked perfectly fine.

SEC (potential) carnage:

Alabama - plays at Tennessee, Mizzou, at LSU, at Oklahoma (first two opponents are undefeated)
Texas - plays Oklahoma, Georgia, and at aTm (probably has the best chance to run the table)
Tennessee - plays Alabama and at Georgia (probably has the second-best chance to run the table)
Georgia - plays at Texas, at Ole Miss, Tennessee
Mizzou - at aTm, at Alabama, Oklahoma
Ole **** - at LSU, Oklahoma, Georgia
LSU - Ole ****, at aTm, Alabama, Oklahoma
Oklahoma - Texas, at Ole ****, @Mizzou, Alabama, at LSU
aTm - Mizzou, LSU, Texas (all home games)

That is NINE ranked SEC teams. They have FIVE collective losses (four teams are undefeated).

There are FIFTEEN total losses above.

If you allocated 13 of the 15 losses equally, you could have 7 teams that are 10-2 and a couple that are 9-3. That's a lot of quality W-L records.

What we NEED is for some more of the unranked SEC teams to knock off the ranked SEC teams.
