Uncle Willie at it again

Again, it’s the same number of spots. You are talking about a 240 lb. 2* kid whose offers were App State and Coastal Carolina. If you think Nelson is somehow a kid who would be a legit P5 OL kid absent the mess we had under Richt, then I guess all you’re saying is you evaluate him more highly than P5 schools actually did. It has nothing to do with the timing issues. From my perspective, he was not a P5 OT prospect, which is why he didn’t have P5 offers. He was a Richt reach because Richt.

The point is...that eventually lots of schools get into reach territory. I don't think he is a P5 OT at all, but I do think he likely would have generated P5 interest if he were a February signing. Happens to a lot of teams...not just Miami. Auburn just took a 2* LB a few days ago whose best offer at the time was Chatanooga (it was Derrick Brown's brother...so its not a straight forward comp, but just a random example). South Carolina just took a low 3* OT, I saw on the ticker and he had no real offers prior.

****, Peyton Matocha went from like a Wyoming level player to Miami, FSU, and maybe(?) aTm being in the mix. It happens.

Lots of schools may get into reach territory, but there are literally hundreds of kids they can reach for. So saying that doesn’t tell us anything about whether Nelson would have been a P5 reach for anyone other than UM under Richt/Searels. So you’re back to explaining why you think Nelson would have generated P5 interest if he was a Feb. signee. It’s not an explanantion that other kids get P5 interest. Some do, some don’t. Searels gives me no confidence in his evals, either. All we know about Nelson from what I can tell is that he did not generate P5 offers.

Blame the offense. Better play calling in the first half and we have 28 points at half

Play calling was fine, Perry was down right about abysmal for almost 3 quarters...Missed guys all over the field, looked like a deer in headlights against Burns and the pressure.

Defense went ape****, and Perry hit a couple nice throws to win game...But that was almost 3 quarters of brutally bad play calling.

For the exact same reason I explained the first time...because of the new nature of the Early Signing Period, non-Power 5 players garner Power 5 interest as a result of the deck being cleared.

You're just choosing to see the tree instead of the forest...other 2* type players getting Power 5 offers is relevant to the assumption that this kid would have generated some P5 interest if he were a February signing because #1 - he is now a Power 5 signee (without concern for our opinion, to which we actually agree) and #2 - there are plenty of players like him that garner the same attention. He had offers from "top" Group of 5 teams (App State, Georgia Southern)...its not a leap to say he would have eventually gotten some Power 5 offers. And, its not a leap at all, since, well, we offered and accepted his commitment. This is a trend that is going to continue more and more, IMO.

I remember when I was a youngin back in elementary school, I had this “friend” where whatever I did, he copied. If I rocked my overalls off the shoulder one day, the next day he did the same. If I had one pants leg up, the next day he did the same. When my mom bought me some CB34 shoes, next week, he had the same. At first I thought it was flatery, until I soon realized it was jealousy. Needless to say, my first bully moment was busting his lip after he tried to make it appear that I was copying him in front of a girl I liked that he started liking.

The moral? Take it w/ a grain of salt that FSU is trying to copy us. It shows we’re a step ahead of them. However, we need to kick their *** and bust their nose, as I know fa sho, they’re pushing the narrative that we’re trying to copy them. Just keep pushing their chit in and these recruits will get the hint soon.

Just remember they beat us 8 yrs in a row, won a national title and went to the playoffs all w/in the last 6 yrs. We just gotta do our parts and keep them in their right place as little brother.
