unc-6.5 at miami

#1 we always have close games with UNC since we joined the ACC. #2 this will be the first time we face them with their new offensive philosophy/style. This will be a shootout if we are over our drubbing against ND. If we aren't over the ND loss we are going to get stoned. I think we will win but this game but will probably come down to whomever has the ball last. The point spread is absolutely rediculous though, both teams are evenly matached and the spreadshouldn't be more than 3 points either way.

The line opened at UNC -3.5 I think. All the money has been on UNC and I for one don't quite get it? I never used to bet for or against my team but I'd be taking the 6.5 Just my observation

I thought it would be UNC -7. They ARE going to work our defense up and down the field. We might be able to do the same.

Doubt it.

UNC has a **** good defense. Probably right on par with ND.

Based on what? Shutting out Idaho and Elon? Their numbers are skewed by playing Idaho, Elon and East Carolina. They gave up 39 to Louisville, 34 to Va Tech and 28 to Wake Forest. UNC as good as Notre Dame? Come on, you can't really believe that.

#20 in total defense. Giving up 22 more yards per game than ND. Less yards per play than ND.

ND is probably better but not by much.

Notre Dame has not played Idaho, Elon and East Carolina. The only teams with a pulse UNC played, VT, Louisville and Wake scored 34, 39 and 28 against them. If UNC played Michigan, Miami, Michigan State, ND's schedule, UNC would not have the #20 total defense. You can't just look at stats blindly. Notre Dame has a much, much, much better defense than UNC.

Yeah but we are 118, and 1985 is not concerned with that

I am concerned, which is why I continually said we'll win or lose 41-38 or something like that, while giving up 400-500 yards. That doesn't mean we automatically lose. What I said is UNC's defense isn't amazing, and we can score on them, so if we win, we'll win a shootout like GT or NC State.

We scored 3 points, how many points is each "much" worth??

Am I the only one that thinks we were gifted the NC St. game? They turned it over 5 times, and thought the play was dead on 2 of our TDs (quit playing). Morris had a great day, but I didn't feel we "won" that game.

How can you say that when we missed 3 FG and threw an INT in the endzone? You could say we could have, and should have been up 40-14 at halftime. You could say we could and should have won that game by 20-30 points. You can't just say, well they turned it over, so we were lucky. They were lucky we threw an INT in the endzone, missed 3 FG, ran into their kicker giving them a first down on a drive that led to a TD after we had stopped them.

Both teams had breaks, both teams had mistakes. Both teams got "lucky" if you want, and those things tend to even out, and they did, and we won.

None of ND's opponents (aside from us) are in the top 50 in total offense.

So Elon = Michigan?
Idaho= Michigan State?
Miami=East Carolina?

Sorry, UNC has good defensive stats because they played absolutely no one. In the games against decent opponents, who still aren't even great (Louisville) or in some cases good (VT and Wake) their defense has looked bad. Not Miami bad, but regular team bad.

Their guys are on scholarship too!

realize that, but does that offset 6 TO's and 2 TDs that the defense stopped on? Just a question, but to me, I felt a bit lucky to win that game.

They were lucky we turned it over once, but we weren't luckt they turned it over 6 times?

care to explain?????? I'm glad we won, but to me, it felt a bit lucky.

/// nm the two tds they stopped on
