at least we're consistent on D. getting gashed... we sure have a way of ruining quality talent.

ok so our corners are 1.5 yards off the WRs. We blitz a backer right into the play so I guess that would be considered the correct call to you guys and we miss the tackle then howard gets blocked down field and they gain nearly 15 yards

For those of you who think this is mostly on the players, do you really believe we'd have this kind of defensive results if Bud Foster were calling the scheme and plays? I sure don't.

What leads you to believe this is NOT on our players? Do you see any talent, do you see any effort, do you see any execution? Like seriously, enough with the schemes. When we can prove we have talented players and we still suck then blame whoever you want, but we don't have good players plain and simple.

The fact that I've seen squads - who would cry to have some of the guys who are on our 2nd or 3rd string play for them - play decently well against some of these opponents. Maybe not dominate. But, certainly not get rolled over.

If you can explain that, I'll very much appreciate it. Otherwise, this is not ALL on the players.

Lu, that is such a BS argument. What player on our 2 deep would other teams cry for? You are the ringleader of the orange and green colored talent evaluation. I don't give a **** what scheme you run...talent is SCARCE on our defense. Anyone who has played or coached football knows that regardless of scheme, if your players are more talented by as much as you proclaim, you will not get shredded week in and week out. Maybe you have a bad day here or there but TALENT wins...PERIOD. And we just don't have any on the defensive side of the ball.

Need I remind you that our starting DT couldn't sniff the field at UVA. You know, a team we are supposed to be so superior to in talent.

our defenders are like old madden and ncaa games. they magnetically stick to defenders and can't fight off blocks

not claiming we have all world players. They definitely have shortcomings. However, you can't convince me that their talent level is below Duke or Maryland who both beat VT while we got blown out. The scheme being used on defense is one of the main problems because the defensive players we have CAN'T RUN IT effectively. That's on coaching. The d coordinator's job is to use the talent he has such that he puts the players in the best position to be successful. How many more games of this kind of crappy results do you need to see this?
