Its soccer a sport for third world countries not the US.

Ignorant much? Soccer is the principal sport in nearly every country on the planet, including the most developed. I guess UK, Germany, Spain, etc. are third world now too?

Exactly. I'm not a soccer fan at all, but the anti-soccer comments tend to be so ignorant and childish. One idiot poster refers to it as a "women's sport".

At 40k you create tremendous demand for seats. Prefer 50k, but 40k woukd be fine.

I am not going to support this mess so UM could be the laughing stock of college football with a 40,000 seat stadium as if were a D2 school. If it's not 55,000 or more forget it.

I get what your saying but the largest d2 stadium doesnt even hold 20K

Funny, cause I am looking at these links that I just posted and I am seeing a much larger stadium than 20,000! Hmmm, maybe Cane Fans should sign the petition.

No point arguing the size of the stadium. No way Beckham & Co. pay to build their stadium there, man Miami politicans are something else.

Watch Beckham & Co. buy Chivas USA and in a couple years build a stadium close to Staples Center/ LA Live.

So confusing regarding our fan base. Its crazy because literally UM top execs said that there is no way UM can fund its own stadium. Period. But they would be willing to go in half way with a partner.

You need a 40K minimum stadium for our school under NCAA rules. We have no other chance of getting it other than doing it this way. But we have UM fans that can't see two feet in front of themselves and understand the facts. Do you understand that FIU needs to build up to that size as well in the near term. So we either team up with MLS and get a stadium near campus or we are gong to witness FIU with the only college stadium in Miami. Wow, that would suck!

Sign the petition.

You have 0 chance of something happening, and then this. This is less than zero chance of happening. 25 year lease at no life stadium, and we don't have the money to buy out a coach, much less our way out of a stadium.

I tell you, some of our fan base love sticking their finger into a power outlet....

I was thinking about that trying to watch some of the world cup stuff. Then is came to me, maybe these other countries like soccer so much because, well, it is about the only sport the have. We have: college football, NFL, college basketball, NBA, college baseball, MLB. They have: soccer period. Ok, some have cricket, rugby, and ice hockey(oh crap I forgot--we have NHL TOO). Maybe if all had was soccer, we would love it too. Wait, no it would still boring as watching grass grow. But then maybe grass watching is the second biggest sport in the rest of the world.

Hey, I did see an interesting play on Sports Center -- some dude bit another dude. Is that legal in soccer? Might make is more interesting.

Point is if you look at our fan base we average ACTUAL attendance of about 35k/game (less when you remove the FSU/UF type games). Paid attendance last year was 53k but is misleading because UF fans bought thousands of season tickets as that was the only way to get UF game seats. Our Paid attendance in 2012 was 48k and is about the average number of tickets we sell each year. The key here is 40k is likely too small but IMO 55k is too large, i think 45k that can expand to 50k for big games is the way to go. I really have no interest in having extra seats just so F-n FSU fans can come to our rivalry games.

Look at TCU and Baylor's stadium designs...get a 40k stadium. Playing I front of a jam packed 40k stadium is a lot better than playing in a 65% filled stadium at No Life. It's the same amount of fans regardless. Make sure your marquee games are played at No Life...ex ND, UF (if they're not scared) and FSU. No Life gets a big cut of the money so they don't feel slighted. But a state of the art 40k stadium will draw many recruits here and will be a true home field advantage. The players could actually hear the fans cheering and the opponents would feel the opposition. U can make it an optional 45k for games against VT or UL. But no more playing in a 65% filled stadium.

We don't need our own stadium, once recruits see the renovated SunLife they will flock, will be one of the nicest stadiums in America!!
