Those mid west schools need it much more than we do because of the snow. You rarely hear of practice being cancelled because if rain.
EITHER way, about time we get one. Recruits love that.
Yes, and no. Most Midwest schools basically where Chicago is or south, don't really get much snow, nor does it stay around for long before football season ends. North of that line, you have a point in that it may snow at the end of the season or between that and the bowl game, but indoor practice facilities are built for rain/thunderstorms here as well.
I saw an image of Ohio opening up their Spring Practice and the field was covered in snow. There is much more of a need for those indoor practice facilities up there, especially during the season.
That DOES NOT mean the Souther schools don't need it. Every school really needs one because they do more than allow you to avoid bad the weather elements. The crowd noise and communication are big reasons why. The fact that theses facilities are all decked out and recruits love seeing these parts of the facilities so spirited and lively. I get all that too.
I will say though. The 4 fingers started with us because we were the only ones that practiced in this heat and weather and when teams played us. Especially at home, they had to be ready for that. Most teams couldn't go the full 4 with us because of it. With the indoor facilities, we may not be practicing in the hear as much. Players love it, but come game day, you want to be the team used to those conditions.
Before you jump on me for all that, just know, I am all for the IPF, but they also have some cons. Not major, just worth mentioning
