UGA/ Kirby Smart Recruiting- Concerning?

UGA has several Bag Men, and Miami doesn't.

For the first time in 30 years Coach Mark Richt is having to recruit without the benefit of Bag Men to grease the recruiting wheels. Add to that the offensive product on the field has been suspect an he is having growing pains in recruiting players. But hopefully he will get is fixed over the next few weeks to finish strong.

Go Canes

Seriously you can't believe that Richt can't recruit without bag men!... Lmao stick to find recruits. I hate when you add in your kamikaze theories it just adds on to the notion that you have some challenges.

I think it's a valid concern that he can't recruit without bagmen. Time will tell.

I think because we didn't land one WR that was a long shot to begin with yall are acting like the world is ending. And yall are acting like not getting Jeudy makes this OL, DL, QB, and RB class bad, when they are clearly good to great. Recruiting good OL/DL is like twice as important as recruiting good RB/WRs. I'm more disapointed in the CB recruiting, But next year should be better.

Sure, we can be happy that we got solid players in certain positions but with the exception of N.D., we have landed very few prospects in positions of need.

OL remains to be seen, if we land Herbert and Slayton, then we are sitting pretty there but I doubt it. If we fail, then the OL class will fall short. CB were struggling too, Bandy is nice and we got Dean on the board, but he has yet to commit, which leaves a lot to be desired again with the recruitment of that position group.. Lastly, we come to WR, which we all know is a complete and utter failure.

OL, CB, and WR were our most critical positions in this cycle, and so far we are not sitting pretty with any group. Very discouraging. Yes, Perry is nice, and so is Mcfarland (if we land him), but bottomline: successful classes fill positional needs.

You're making assumptions with the OL and RB class. As we've seen with the Harley fiasco, we might want to hold our horses a bit. I'm interested in seeing how we close.

No because he's a new head coach who had a lot of success at Bama. Plus he has tons of bagmen

Richt had same bagmen

Richt recruited at a Top 10 level every year

Not sure he ever put together a class like kirby is right now

The first year bump class is a real thing. It happens at almost every school that cares about competing and bringing in talent. Yet Richt is hovering around 15 currently....

Can assure you Coach Richt had no bagmen at UGA, he would not put up with that crap. Do not believe that reason for Kirby success either. He stepped in to the state being loaded with most 4 and 5 star players in state ever, probably more than state of Fla. Also no in state competition just Clemson, Aubarn, and Bama poaching a few and the Canes got DJ. Someone earlier posted good recruiters this year, but ****** coaching staff, will not win 9 games next year with one of easiest schedules in school history.

Smart also stepped into a situation where the former coach maintained great relationships around a state that the school largely dominates. He did not walk into any situations like Golden not contacting Jeudy.

Georgia's class is not better than ours by any means.

It is rated higher because of recruiting service bias.

Isaiah Wilson is not a better prospect than Vaughn Donaldson; however, Donaldson is a 4 star and Wilson is a 5. That is strictly bias.

Robert Beal is not a better prospect than DJ Johnson; however, Beal is a 4 star and Johnson is a 5.

Our class is generally the same as theirs.

The inevitable "Our players are better just because" statement. Why are the UGA commits not better than Vaughn and DJ?

Just looking at Hudl:
Wilson is taller and outweighs Vaughn but is still a solid OT. He also plays NT which is why he's a 5* imo not because of bias as you would like to believe.

Beal is faster than DJ and projects more as a 3-4 OLB while DJ is more of a 4-3 DE.

Our class is not the same. UGA has eight top 100 players committed compared to our two. They also have an 85% blue-chip ratio compared to our 23%.

agree 100%.

Let's save this thread and see if our players are developed better than their players over time.

Miami has bag men just like every other program in the power 5 conferences (some of them even post on this board). its just that the amount of money being thrown around by SEC schools, Oho St, etc is out of our budget,.

We appreciate all that you do.

Kirby's recruiting approach is a little bit different than Richt. Kirby is still locking up GA, but he has 3 big time recruits out of NY & PA for 2017. Richt never recruited those areas.

So is anyone jumping to conclude what the final class is or isnt

Even then, last class was 21. 3 freshman all Americans

Does it raise a red flag to anyone that ****head Kirby Smart has the top 3 class in the country with the same resources Richt had at UGA?

O and they sucked on the field this year at 7-5.

Where is this staffs first year recruiting bump?

It baffles me as much as Alabama becoming immediately relevant again under Satan, or KY basketball after landing Calipari.

Bottom line, when programs with those "resources" become desperate to be back up top, the pu$h becomes immediate and intense.

UGA loved having Richt as the face of the program until they were ready to win at any cost. There was no doubt they were going to do whatever nece$$ary to make their boy Smart a success.
