We have to kill quarterbacks. It's that simple.
If we have to rush 7, then we do it. Whatever it takes to hit the qb on practically every pass beyond a receiver screen he attempts.
For years we've watched a passive defense continually give up long drives all game long, making average qb's look like Heismsan favorites.
If we give up a big play, so be it, as long as the qb feels the pain. A qb who can't see his long td pass because he's buried under 1000lbs of rabid beast is a qb who will quickly start to think about his own survival instead rather than his future success.
Qb's who stand tall and confident, playing pitch and catch without fear, will pick apart any team in America.
It's time to put the fear of God into any qb who faces us. We do that we win.
We got after USF and VPI QBs. I really think Porter / Pierre / LRobinson make the biggest impact on defense this season. We were completely different with Porter healthy.
Let's face it, last year we were just not strong enough, not big enough and definitely not experienced enough.
This year our D doesn't resemble last year's at all.
Obviously, it's still early and we will know after the Florida game how our D and our season will unfold.
I'm just saying that nothing demoralizes an offense more than seeing your quarterback, your leader get jack hammered or knocked senseless and we have to do whatever it takes to crush opposing qb's.
I'd start with rushing 4, then 5, then 6, then 7. Whatever it takes. Somebody beats our blitz for a deep score? Whatever. It's a bullet to the head versus a long drawn out death.
As long as we destroy the opponent's head and heart, the end result will take care of itself.
