UF has fired their crappy OC and OL coach after two season.

you are welcome to become a gator fan.

Stupid ****ing post.

stupid how fool? THIS **** SUCKER praising the gators? Oh they are not settling for mediocrity bull ****… THEIR HEAD CORCH IS A CHUMP! OP is acting like the gators want to turn everything around by firing their coordinator when the problem is the head man. Btw last year in Temple Donofrio 17 ranked D nationally. No one likes to address those things because it is easier to just rip people.

Golden at Temple

year 1: 1-11
year 2: 4-8
year 3:5-7
year 4:9-4
year 5:8-4

AT FREAKING TEMPLE.. He turned a doormat program into a winning team. Now he is trying to do the same here and you people really think he is going to settle for mediocrity? He had a top 20 Defense AT TEMPLE! Imagine what he will do with Miami talent.

Turner Gill turned around Buffalo.

UF has had Weis and now Pease both guys who had great resumes. I think a lot of the offensive failure is due to what Muschamp wants his team to be. His philosophy leads to ****** offenses. Its what gives everyone concern about Golden and his philosophy.

That's my point about Pease. Both he and Charlie Weiss failed as OCs there. That has a real bad smell to it. Pease and Weiss didn't forget how to coach. Maybe it's the HC, maybe it's simply a lack of offensive talent. But, I'm pretty sure it wasn't bad OCs.

Agree completely. Muschamp seems to want a physical running team with play action off of that. If that's what you want, then go get a pro-style QB and build it.

This is why I don't think firing MDO fixes our problems.

It always starts with the top man. Golden has to decide what he wants to run and how he wants to implement it. So far, he still has faith in what he's trying to build on defense. We'll see how it plays out.

Rule #1. Never judge a coach on the merit of 1 QB.

Weiss owes success to Brady

Take this into consideration for a moment... They were playing MAC teams all year. How hard is it to stop mediocre teams with mediocre coaches from a mediocre conference? You take that same staff and intro them into a much tougher conference and these are the growing pains you get. I think Al is the right guys for this team. D'onofrio is not. Jethro is not. We need a DC who understands our personnel and recruiting grounds and builds the scheme around our strength in personnel, not personnel built around scheme. It's what made Fisch successful as a OC here. That and he was a helluva QB coach.

How many here would agree that Al Golden is putting his future as a college HC on the line by going all in on this defense?

I think everybody here as decided that he'll either succeed or fail based on his decision this offseason on what to do with Mark D and the defense.

they are a few years from a ship and dominating CFB,,,,huge recruiting classes 5 of 6 BCS bowls.......yea great comparison

You go from 11 to 4 wins and somebody is paying that price. Golden would've fired some people as we'll if he won 2-3 games this year and he was retained. He may still fire guys but our season unlike their's is still going.

It'll be interesting to see who replaces him knowing only one year left under Muschamp.
Smart move would be promote Joker Phillips.

I agree with you and although the MAC had crappier players (mediocre lets call them) so did Golden. He was not getting Miami level talent and playing scrubs. He was playing scrubs with other scrubs. I would give coach D until next year to see if we get into the 60s or 70s on D( considering the youth of the new D-line coming). Now I agree that the DL coach , Linebackers and even OL coaches can be improved greatly. I think Miami with a beast coach at DL and Backers can do a lot better than by just firing D.

This. Golden, by all accounts, is a hands on coach (ala Belichick). That may be good or bad, but Golden has heavy involvement in all aspects of this program (yes offense too). Golden isn't going to "turn the defense over to someone else".

We may change or adapt to a different base defense, however, I highly doubt he shifts his philosophy dramatically. Now most will say he'll fail if he doesn't but that is the reality IMO.

Pease's great resume' was basically serving as the great Chris Petersen's caddy for a couple years. That Boise offense has clicked almost every year Petersen's been there regardless of who the OC is.

What did Weis ever do other than gravy train Belichick and Brady for a couple years? Everyone who has worked as OC there has had equal or better results to Fat Chaz. Fat Chaz has failed at everything he's done other than those few gravy train seasons.

Muscrap's philosophy might be the problem. But I wouldn't make the claim that Pease or Weis had any great history as OCs.

Just read one potential candidate for their OC position is Jedd Fisch.. that would be funny
