UF D coah to Temple

Well ... We'll see how good Randy is as a DC in today's college game.

If Randy does well, he'll definitely get another HC shot ... If he wants it. IMO ...

he better figure out how to run more than man to man cover 2 99.99999999999% of the time

my thoughts drift back to that ohio state game, spread 5 wide, qb sneak krenzel up the middle all **** game.. way to adjust randy

Yeah, I always felt that Randy got way more praise than he had any right to get. He had the base D down and that did well, but he RARELY adjusted in the 2nd half and when he did, it was often way later than he should have. Randy also NEVER could stop a running QB. I mean NEVER!

If he can take over the Gates D and make it really good, then he may coach his way back to respectability and possibly get another crack at a HC position, but it cannot be overstated that the talent he had to work with his 1st 4 or so years as DC at the U greatly aided his abilities as a coach. I can't remember him EVER out scheming and out coaching a decent opponent as a DC. Anyway, I wish him well as long as it doesn't hurt us.

almost 70 points given up between va tech and ohio state that year

with those athletes, let that sink in

It will either be K.C Keeler or Ed Foley for Temple. If Golden wants to be a head coach again it would likely have to be at a place like Buffalo, UMASS or Old Dominion when they become available lol

I dont know where you got your info, but Foley was never under consideration, and we didn't interview any FCS coaches. We interviewed Collins, Fisch, Bloomgren and Cristobal.

I thought Randy was a pretty good DC for the most part but 2002 is the year that sticks out like a sore thumb. Moreso than 04 because he had far less talent 2 years later.

But to be fair the OSU game went into OT. It's not really fair to count OT stats in defensive stats.

1. Always great when UF has weaknesses in any capacity.
2. UF's strength has been the D for the last several years. They currently have an experienced D that many of the starters are graduating or taking off for NFL.
3. Would be shocking if UF wins more than 7 next year.

And 4. Al Golden can't coach a HS team yet alone a mid-tier college program. He's a CORCH!

Preach. I kept waiting for an adjustment against the five wr set, qb draw. I kept hollering " hey dumbass , it's a draw!!! They literally ran a jr high offense and beat arguably the best team ever with it. Dude sucked, hence why he hasn't called plays since UM.

It is puzzling to me that many think it was the defense that lost the Ohio State game. We only gave up 260 yards total and that is with 3 overtimes.

Off-Topic, but on ...

Just like the Fiesta Bowl loss to PSU ... Too many turnovers by the offense lost the game to Ohio State.

Of course, while everyone gets up in their feelings about "the phantom call", the real reason our Canes lost was because the 4th and 14 conversion by Ohio State, and the offense's inability to score from the 2-yard line in the 2nd OT on 4 CONSECUTIVE PLAYS!

you bring up a decent point but I still think it's criminal that an offense like theirs with a QB that played exactly one half of an NFL season ( not even basically ) was able to score anything at all vs the likes of wilfork, vilma, dj, sean taylor, antrel rolle etc.

Maurice Clarrett, a true freshman, manhandled one of the best defenses in NCAA history in the way we couldn't stop him when it counted most. Stats don't tell the tale of how dominant he was when he needed to be..

Craig Krenzel, 4th and 14. That play is still a dagger to the heart.

And our defense gave up 266 yards. Clarett sucked and Krenzel couldn't throw. What more could you ask from the defense?

Oh stop exaggerating. No he didn't. Stats tell everything. Clarett sucked. If they don't call the pi osu doesn't have their last 2 tds and Clarett abysmal performance becomes even worse. He got 2 yards a carry. There is no domination at all with 2 yards a carry. Krenzell threw for like 120 and Clarett ran for like 47. We lost in ot. Defense nor Randy was the reason we lost. We didn't play a perfect game but allowing a total of 266 yards is great for a defense.

What does the nfl has anything to do with it? With an offense like ours and the players we sent to the league, we should of dropped 60. Krenzell barely did anything that game. OSU wouldn't uave had 2tds if it wasn't for the pi.

There probably should have been offensive pass interference on the 4th and 14. Which would have made it 4th and 29.

To be reasonable OSU might have won the game in regulation if Gamble hadn't been ruled out of bounds on his catch with about 2:00 left.

In regulation, Ohio had a 14-yard scoring drive, a 17-yard scoring drive, and 1-yard drive (their field goal).
