Failing to land Campbell after losing the Jobe & Samuel battles would mean there's no justification for having 2 DB coaches on one staff that whiff on so much premier local talent. Wisky's receivers making every contested grab against a secondary maddeningly incapable of playing the ball at the catch point isn't a new issue either.
If Rumph can't land Campbell despite the long-lasting relationship they've had, then he's capable of letting anyone get away. You can find 1 DB coach who can both develop and recruit instead of devoting two slots on the staff to the secondary.
I like Rumph, and I like Banda...I agree with you.
I like them too and want them both to succeed here. Campbell is the most important DB recruit the current staff has prioritized since they took the job considering his talent level and longstanding relationship with Rumph. If we land him, everyone will be over the moon at a DB haul of Campbell/Hall/Frierson/Ivey/Blades.
But after last year's DB finish and the Jobe/Samuel recruiting mishaps, you shouldn't move forward with 2 DB coaches on one staff if Campbell & Surtain head to UGA, Bama, or LSU as we close with someone like Nigel Bethel. That can't happen.
