Could our sudden interest in Samuel and scheduling a visit with Bethel have something to do with not feeling confident with Campbell? We need both quality and quantity in terms of DBs.

More to due with the fact that we have low numbers at cb in general imo. Both frierson and blades eventually will end up at safety and that would mean ivey would be the only true corner we would have signed.

Failing to land Campbell after losing the Jobe & Samuel battles would mean there's no justification for having 2 DB coaches on one staff that whiff on so much premier local talent. Wisky's receivers making every contested grab against a secondary maddeningly incapable of playing the ball at the catch point isn't a new issue either.

If Rumph can't land Campbell despite the long-lasting relationship they've had, then he's capable of letting anyone get away. You can find 1 DB coach who can both develop and recruit instead of devoting two slots on the staff to the secondary.

I like Rumph, and I like Banda...I agree with you.

Campbell basically said he has made up his mind but wants to make sure its the right choice. He said if signing day was tommorow he could make a decision.

So when he thought he was coming to Miami you said he was extremely connected, but now he's thinking of flipping his pick to Georgia and this is your response ...

Crystal ball also had the former FSU dB commit coming to Miami , those things are pure guessing

Wiltfong doesn’t guess. He is the most plugged in guy out of all of them. Miami has to close the deal because Georgia isn’t going away!

Yea if he's thinking Georgia then there's legitimate smoke.

If Rumph can't convince a kid from a Canes family who he's known forever and that would start day one, then he's the worst recruiter of all time. The 2018 CB class was set up perfectly for him to clean up.

Georgia fans seem extremely confident in landing TC. Many of them (respected posters) say that what we don’t know is that James Coley already has TC sewed up. TIFWIW but if we lose Campbell it is a major fail on this staff and Rumph.

Why would a mediocre offensive assistant have more sway than a position coach that's "family"?

Marco Wilson miss
CJ Henderson miss
Shawn Davis miss
Brian Edwards miss
Josh Jobe miss
Add Campbell and Surtain to the growing list of failure

And have only 5 CBs on the roster. If Rumph loses Campbell he would be unemployed if I was the HC

Did we already lose Campbell?
When did he sign his LOI and for whom?

That’s literally all he said and these gimps are losing their minds.

So you're basically having a heavy menstrual cycle over a prospect who hasn't signed, much less
committed, anywhere?
Am I reading this correctly?

I wouldn’t want to play in that D I watched last night. Things got real around here very fast. All this winning we did early was a facade. Are we in better shape then when Golden was here? Absolutely. Are we in near the big boys yet? Not even close.

So because a highly touted 5 star db from Miami has the elite schools going hard for him and he is interested in all of them means we panic and 1 bad game from our dbs mean they suck and Rumph should be fired? Ok

Yes.
This is what it means.
Never mind that 4 weeks ago folks were worried about Manny Diaz bolting to TexAM, FSU, [enter P5 school].
This is quite a BiPolar crowd.

Or........perhaps he sees an opportunity to start from Day1.

4 mediocre games In a row by our defense will do that , Virginia was no walk in the park either

I like them too and want them both to succeed here. Campbell is the most important DB recruit the current staff has prioritized since they took the job considering his talent level and longstanding relationship with Rumph. If we land him, everyone will be over the moon at a DB haul of Campbell/Hall/Frierson/Ivey/Blades.

But after last year's DB finish and the Jobe/Samuel recruiting mishaps, you shouldn't move forward with 2 DB coaches on one staff if Campbell & Surtain head to UGA, Bama, or LSU as we close with someone like Nigel Bethel. That can't happen.

It's absolutely a Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad look if we whiff on TC (especially for Rumph), but it's worth remembering that we already have signed the best DB class in the ACC (that includes Clemson and FSU), and arguably one of the best in the nation. Revisit the OP of this very thread: TC is the icing!

The kid arguably has the most potential of a S.FL prospect since Cook, but I'm more concerned (broken record) w our LB, DT, and OT corps. That's what has me panicking right now.

I agree, but I think it's Banda who needs to kick rocks out of the secondary. His position is repetitive. I think he should move to LB coach to free up Diaz (who btw, merely did an okay job this season, and that was even before last night). He'd also probably be a better recruiter there, too, bc he's been getting smoked in lot of his battles on the recruiting trail, too.

Wouldn’t surprise me if the young man said because he knows after last night he will play a ton for our team. If you all think we laid an egg as a team you are closet enemies.
