Also CUSA allows Marshall to take NQs based of the rules, Marshall just follows the rules.
No one is saying that Marshall is breaking the rules. You're going so far left with this. Your initial post was about not knowing why people think Marshall is taking kids with bad grades. They're able to take non-qualifiers, which is kids with bad core grades or low test scores. You know that Marshall can take non-qualifiers. So you answered your own question.

Its clear to me you struggle with reading comprehension, so let me bullet it for you.

1. Marshall will NOT take you if you have a GPA below 2.3. Ask Emmitt Gooden and Darel Middleton
2. Alot of kids do not test well. So you if scored low multiple times on the SAT or ACT, Marshall will enroll you.
3. Alot of times, kids do not take the right amount of Core Classes. You can blame the school district, The High School, or the Guidance Counselor for this.

Its people like you who think if a kid is ineligible its automatic they have bad grades. There is more to the story than that.

You're playing a semantic game and hanging on certain words. I said test scores or bad CORE GRADES. It's bad core grades from the NCAAs standpoint not mine. You haven't said anything that disagrees with my point. I'm done here.

Jesus man

Having bad Core grades and not enough Core Classes is not the same **** thing.

A Kid could have a 3.0, 1100 SAT score but only took 13 Core classes. Well Guess what, He will NOT be eligible. He is likely a kid who ends up at Marshall as it has happened before. We signed Shelden Evans from Roswell, Georgia who was in that same situation 2 years ago.

For 1 last time. If you have a crappy GPA, Marshall wont enroll you.

idk how you can say JUCO is the best route vs being able to enroll in a 4 year school with all the S&C resources, academic support, and Housing of a 4 year school. Plus you still have 4 years to play 4 years.

You’re looking at it just from a football perspective. I personally think there are so many dynamics that can effect their success rate. I don’t have a problem with Marshall because they are established program but not all g5 schools are as efficient. If a kid is immature, I would rather they go juco and mature than flame out at a 4 yr school because they were never ready for the course load. That’s why I said for many kids it’s the best route. Let’s be real, performing on the field is not the issue with a lot of those kids. It’s the classroom.

Thing is most JUCOs dont have the academic support to really support a Kid in the classroom. Look at the recent season of Last Chance U. The HC was also the Academic Advisor. That is usually the situation at most JC's. Most JUCO's dont even have tutoring services. And that is why alot of talented guys fall by the wayside when they end up at a JUCO.

No that’s not true. All jucos have tutoring services. Community colleges offer tutoring services. It may not be strictly geared towards athletes but they have tutoring services. It’s also about finding the right situation. I didn’t say all, I said for many students. For many, jucos are the best options. For years top notch athletes went the juco route and it worked out for them. In many cases, the players were bounce backs from smaller g5 programs then found themselves in better situations at p5 schools. I like Marshall they have a good system. I think WKU as well, but not every institution operates in an efficient manner.

The coach at Independence was bad but his players were still eligible moved on. He had guys signing with FBS programs that didn’t even play. One player actually committed to UM at QB during his high school commitment.

Anyway, my point is that although Marshall is good, every school doesn’t operate in the same manner. I’d rather a student go juco & mature as opposed to just settling as a partial qualifier. Marshall’s process of taking non-qualifiers precedes the rule change as well. They have a long successful reputation of what they do.
