Changed in what sense? Is he less about the U than he was? You've inferred that AR15 is a Cane a few times...that from the same convo?

Hope he sticks but either way, not worried about one CB recruit. Miami is and always has been one coach away from dominating and there is no shortage of talented DBs in our backyard every year.

Tennessee, unfortunately for them, is stuck in the middle of the SEC now and they've already exhausted most of their boosters with nothing to show for it.

They are slightly better than Kentucky but worlds away from Bama, LSU and Florida.

Unless they are prepared to go full Ole Mi$$, they wont be doing much in the next four to five years.
I agree ..

+1, I definitely would not be happy losing byrd, but you have to put each recruitment in perspective. The only thing helping TN in this situation is Larry Scott not his room mate. They were fortunate that Larry already had a relationship with the young man. Otherwise he wouldn't even visited. Let's hope the kid makes the best decision and sticks with Miami. Better depth cart, easier for his family to see him, and be a part of something special that is about to take place.

Mr Quarterman, you were pretty confident that Byrd would stick last week. What has changed? Are you basing your opinion off of what you've read off here or something else you heard.
He Shaq and AR15 chat from time to time and the conversation has changed

Ouch
Very Ouch... This could be the most telling thing we've seen and heard, especially if Shaq's talked to Byrd since his return.

volnation is thier board Ive already been banned under KnoxvilleVern..took me 3 days to get in...those guye are tighter then Fort Knox

It seemed at one point he was re recruiting AR15 now it seems AR15 is recruiting him.. Alot of these kids are tired of recruiting.. there is always someone in their ear...they are more tired than we are... He never said that he was going to Tenn he just expressed how much he liked it. And from talking with him myself i can tell he is very close to CFA... This kid is not pretentious.. doing it for the show...if he waivers or even flip..it will be because it would be the right choice for him... and if i had the chance to talk with him today..he would know how i feel about UM and the things that he and the U could do for each other but I would never high pressure sell Miami to him... i would want him to go to the school that he chooses and wish him the best of luck regardless.. Its easy for us in the fourm to throw out 99 reasons.. but most of the time the kids interest is not considered..our interest is more for the program we cheer for... As a fan i want him.. As a parent i hope he makes the best decision for himself and is happy with it.

So basically it's a situation where it's not as much about ut as it is him wanting to play with cfa. Obviously he loves miami too or he would not be committed for so long. So it seems you are saying that he is going to need time to think about thigs because he seems to be torn between miami and playing with cfa.

Wow, thanks for the info.

I felt great about Byrd until this, and it's because I think it really is the best choice for him. AR I was more worried about, because the path to first round WR from South Florida has been through Bama. Byrd at Tennessee? Only positive for him is his boy being there, everything else is better for him at home.

I hope we get both.

I obviously have a biased view, BUT from my standpoint you have a few things to consider. One Miami is far enough away to get away from home for school, but close enough where you can drive home after practice get home before midnight if you need to. You can't do that at Tennessee. Also your family is less burdened to come visit you, or see you play. Also from a academic standpoint, Tennessee can't touch Miami. Well really Tennessee can't touch Miami in terms of producing NFL DB's either.

Now you have the opportunity to possibly start at Miami your freshman year. I am not sure with Sutton coming back. Also IMO Miami>Tennessee in terms of living too. Now in terms of tennessee favor you have fils aime and larry scott. No guarantee Scott is there in a year or 2.

Uh, Amari Cooper is the first WR from South Florida to go to Bama and get drafted in the first round...wouldn't exactly claim that as king...
Infact, Alabama has 4 WR's drafted since 2003...Only reason why it isn't THAT bad because 2/4 of their wide receivers were top 10 picks in the draft (Cooper/Julio Jones)...
For comparison, we have 4 WR's drafted since 2011, and 10 since 2003. Only one drafted in top 10 (Andre), but we have 4 additional receivers on top of that who ended up playing 3+ years in the NFL (counting Allen Hurns who will be here a while)

Edit: TL;DR - Miami is historically, and recently a better place for WR's...

Papa Q,

So basically the only thing that has TB's real attention is playing with CFA? If that is the case why hasn't Tenn been more of a threat until now?

If that is the case then that is some weak stuff and he's making a decision for a friend. That never works out. don't ever do business with family!

The best place for the kid is here, i have seen countless kids for years make a choice based on playing with such and such person and everytime they do that they regret it, byrd needs to make the right choice for himself and its here i say that with no bias at all, i know this kid is smart he will make the right choice

These kids look at lately, Cooper blowing up at Bama hurt. Ridley filling his role isn't helping. Julio isn't from South Florida, but adds to the top NFL WR's that Bama has produced.

I know we've put some guys in the NFL, just saying that AR to Bama always made more sense to me than Byrd to UTenn when taking away my Cane bias.

I think this is what it comes down to. It's Playing at UM vs. Playing with CFA. Did we ever offer CFA?

I get uncomfortable with adults saying they know where the best place for a kid is. We don't know that. If he doesn't come here I wish him the best. He seems like a nice kid. That said, hope he sticks!

Reason why I feel like it doesn't make sense is because he is GOING to take a backseat to Ridley most likely, and while that doesn't affect his career if things remain constant, I have no doubts that Nick Saban will be getting a new OC before Richards is a JR, and Lane Kiffin is the reason why Amari Cooper was used to perfection. Ridley was also until Clemson put the breaks on him even when Mackenzie Alexander got injured. When Kiffin bolts, and Saban can't answer with an OC that's just as good, Richards career instantly depends on if Alabama can finally get a good QB.

I told y'all Tennessee a real threat to land Byrd. That picture of the TN coaches with Byrd and Fils-Aime when the TN coaches came to their home told a lot. Dem shrimps were on the table with all the Dr. Pepper were big *** and day were de-veined (nice touch Butch). TN came to play! That told me they we're going to blow dem bois away on the OV.

Miami cooled on CFA because we had 4 RB's committed...So he committed elsewhere...Now it's coming back to bite us, and their head coach is very strong about keeping commitments, so i'm pretty sure Mark Richt respected that and didn't pursue CFA.
