Two Local DTs Staff is Taking a Look At

Been campaigning for Kancey since 2017, kid is pure beast.

Violent hands & explosive burst off the snap, he is undersized but he's one of the best pass rushers in Dade. He originally came over from Jackson with Davontae McCrae his Freshman year. Liberty City kid to the fullest.

Right now South Carolina has the lead on him because they were recruiting him all the way & we still haven't offered yet so idk how much ground we'd have to make up. But South Cack, LVille & NC St are at the top until we get in the game.

And Malcolm Ray is another kid I was posting about last season (check the MNW vs Carol City threads) he transferred from Hallandale when Coach Hyppolite got the CC job.

He plays DT, but I actually think he'll be more of a DE in college. The thing I wish we would do is eval these local kids earlier & as opposed to going after OOS kids who won't stick long term in the early eval periods.

Thanks, LCE. Great insight. I'm sure we all watched the NFL draft, I think you pay attention to who NC State recruits on the DL!

I want coach Simpson and Miami to go after this young man from Alabama to pair with current UM commits Brown and Daxon. That would give Miami a monstrous interior dline for years.

Play two tall NT types Simultaneously and crash the freakish fast ends all game.

Seen Ray before. Not the heaviest but extremely explosive. He explodes into the O-linemen before they are set and muscles them back. They play him up and down the D-line in all positions.
At the next level he would be best at DE much like Trent Harris in size. He can handle larger men as shown in his HS film so is pretty stout against the run. Lined up at DT and sometimes NT.

Has enough height needs about 20 more pounds of muscle. Look at Harold Landry DE of BC that was taken 41st in the draft this year. 6-2/250 at the combine.

We are seeing more of Simpson's philosophy with this renewed emphasis on smaller DTs and the lack of communication with Renato Brown.

I wonder if Daxon will be our last traditional NT and going forward, we end up going for speed all across the DL, especially with the way offenses have developed. Will be interesting to see if we can line up with three DT/DE tweener types in the 270-280lb range, plus a traditional WDE in the 250-260lb range, and take on the spreads, read option, zone blocking schemes that have taken over CF.

Think about it. Over the past month, we've seen lots of noise with 6'3 270lb Quashon Fuller, 6'5 250lb Mike Morris, and of course 6'4 260lb Ingraham. Now we're seeing two more previously ignored (by Kul) local DTs ranging in the 6'1 and 250-260lb range. Sorrals himself is only 270lbs. The only 300lb we have on the board are Daxon, Tyler Davis, and MAYBE Renato Brown.

In fact, the 2019 DL class could be all 3 tech slashers and pass rushers. Ingraham, Fuller, Kancey, Sorrals, Bogle, Summerall, and Williams. No Daxon, no Brown.

Anyone who believes or even thinks Daxon will not be in this class is stupid.

How do you know there is no communication between Brown and the staff other than something that was said 2 months ago?

Lol I hear ya...I'm just saying this kid Kancey is what about 6'1? 250-260ish? And is 1st step/pass rush is lightning. I mean obv DT is the easy projection, but if he can't get up in that 280+ I wouldn't rule out end.

Either way, I have no prob taking this kid, and not just as a backup plan. I remember being more impressed with him than Ray too, but maybe I'll watch Ray's tape too. Ray has to put on weight too, but I think he may have the bigger frame?

So he likely projects as Gerald Willis size.
