Two Local DTs Staff is Taking a Look At

First off, I want to believe that is you in that avatar so don't ever tell me otherwise. lol.

Second, yes you were the first one that brought up this kid Kancey. Hope Diaz and Simpson keep an eye on him. Prop Joe said he was 6'0 265 which isn't horrible. **** isn't Nesta 6'1? He can be our "developmental" take for this year. I am 110% okay with taking one of these per year as long as its a local kid and as long as there is only 1 or 2 at the most. (Nigel Bethel was last years)
PJ Hall just got drafted in the 2nd round from out of Sam Houston St & he's only 6'1 310lbs. Aaron Donald is just 6'0 & is arguably the best DT in the league.

Kancey is right around 260-70, but he doesn't carry bad weight at all, he's actually physically built & isn't overweight.

He's the best playmaker on the DLine for MNW, even when they got thrashed by Chandler in AZ he was one of the only kids making plays. He 100% can play at Miami.

Calijah Kancey reminds me of Keir Thomas, an undersized Central DT that landed at South Carolina. I'm guessing Muschamp sees the same thing, since he is after Kancey pretty hard. Kancey also has some Lamonte McDougle in his game (freshman AA from Deerfield Beach who is transferring from WVU).

At the Rivals Camp, Kancey measured at 6'0, 264 with a 73-inch wingspan. Freakishly quick, excellent swim move, moves and tackles like a LB. Huge production. He was impossible to block when I saw him at camp. The only knock is obviously size. If we signed him, I'd give him a shot at FB as well. He can play the position.

Malcolm Ray measured at 6'0, 242 with a 78-inch wingspan. He is another good player with size issues. At this level, he gets off blocks, uses his hands well and goes a great job locating the football. Not quite as quick as Kancey. The question with him, again, is size. He's a little more slender than Kancey.

Both guys are good players who are worth monitoring.

Lol. Bringing back memories, DMoney. Keir Thomas was the hottest thing in the streets until everyone found out buddy was like 5'10 or something crazy like that. Then those big school offers started dropping like flies. Wasn't he committed to FSU at one point during his recruitment?

That said, lets do our due diligence and if the staff decides not to offer, fair enough but at least they are keeping Kancey on the radar.

Two questions....would you offer Kancey as a dt and do you think we land McDougle as a transfer?

Not recruiting Klancey would be like not like not recruiting McDougle out of Deerfield who beasted for West Va. his Freshman year

No on McDougle. I’d be fine with a Kancey offer but this is a loaded DT year in South Florida and SW Florida.

I like the way we are prioritizing the class. Good big beats good little. Diaz is smart to monitor these small guys while chasing bigger fish.

When i spoke to hima month ago...i told him the same thing. I said man you should try out some full back.Because i feel he can possible play that spot. He said straight up "l like to hit people not get hit" . I could dig it lmao.
The only issue i see is Daxon is likely a 1 at 6'1 315. Brown is definately a nose with big enough size..would you take a chance on a kid that undersized (he carries weight well)?. I would only if i miss out on the two fort myers kids as a 3 tech..and if im taking projects or undersized guys...i want them to be from LIBERTY CITY.

try to land Tyler Davis from wekiva(best dlineman in the state). If we can’t land him then go after the northwestern kid as the smaller dt in the class

Keir went to South carolina and has been logging time for them from day 1. He is small but really built and quick.

Keir is about 6'1-265 now and plays some end. Kancey is essentially already the same size with a small belly. I think Kancey can get up to 280. Keir is topped out.

The two 6'3 280 pd dt's out of Fort Myers look real good too. My targets right now would be Davis, Fuller, Hunter.
Kancey would be a watch till first 6 games of sr year type for me. I would lightly recruited him though not to diss him.

My thoughts exactly. I would throw in Mike Morris from Palm Beach. He reminds me of McIntosh.

Ingraham gotta be on the list.

That’s some really solid tape. Really depends on how Simpson wants to build his DL but I’d say this guy is right on the heels of Tyler Davis. Both short but Davis just has more weight right now. Would definitely recruit this dude throughout the year if other targets fall through.
