Two Local DTs Staff is Taking a Look At

Wonder if we would drop Brown for one of them? Daxon, 1 local guy/Brown, then Sorrells (or another top guy) would be a great haul.

Kancey is the mold of a s.fla dt.He's small as **** but has that quick first step and burst. He's a scheme fit for certain teams..dont think here..but he will be productive in college. Kancey is under 6'1..dont think anyone has that step like him though

Been calling for Kancey for months...Lightning first step, and I wouldn't even rule out he plays end in the stocky Elvis Dumervil type way.

The thing about Dumervil is....He had Long *** arms. I worked out with him when we would come home from college. I'm 6'3+ and his arms were longer than mines. lol

Lol I hear ya...I'm just saying this kid Kancey is what about 6'1? 250-260ish? And is 1st step/pass rush is lightning. I mean obv DT is the easy projection, but if he can't get up in that 280+ I wouldn't rule out end.

Either way, I have no prob taking this kid, and not just as a backup plan. I remember being more impressed with him than Ray too, but maybe I'll watch Ray's tape too. Ray has to put on weight too, but I think he may have the bigger frame?

FIU has offered both of them and Butch is at FIU.

And he does know what productive DL look like.

Will be interesting to see how it develops.

I do like that we're clearly casting a wider net with the DL this year.

Hope this becomes a regular recruiting pattern for us.

I think you take Kancey as soon as it becomes clear that we are not getting Tyler Davis.

Try for 4 total:

Daxon run stuffer
Davis/Kancey gap shooter type
Ingram/Mike Morris as a hybrid
Brown/Sorrels/Fuller

Dumervil was one kid that Butch couldn't project and missed on him. But he was playing DT at Jackson IIRC. That said, he doesn't come around very often. He was a freak of nature with those arms.

Glad the staff is casting the net out as far as they can to find hidden gems and making SFL their first stop. Cant let any SEC team sneak any hidden gems out of here and we definitely cant assume "Jordan Miller" situations are going to happen every year. That was pure luck that he fell into our laps. We need to make sure we are doing our homework 24/7.

Interesting post about dumervil. Guy was a beast. I watched some football a few years ago with a guy that graduated from killian and played at Kentucky. I think he was an OL or TE. Anyway he said at the high school all star game dumervil lined up and told him he was gonna put him on his ***. He did, play after play. Guy said he was an absolute monster and played with anger. He said a lot of guys underestimated him bc of his size.

Kancey was 6'0 1/2 265 in feburary. Put on some weight since the year before, hes a kid that shouldnt go a pound over 280.

Been campaigning for Kancey since 2017, kid is pure beast.

Violent hands & explosive burst off the snap, he is undersized but he's one of the best pass rushers in Dade. He originally came over from Jackson with Davontae McCrae his Freshman year. Liberty City kid to the fullest.

Right now South Carolina has the lead on him because they were recruiting him all the way & we still haven't offered yet so idk how much ground we'd have to make up. But South Cack, LVille & NC St are at the top until we get in the game.

And Malcolm Ray is another kid I was posting about last season (check the MNW vs Carol City threads) he transferred from Hallandale when Coach Hyppolite got the CC job.

He plays DT, but I actually think he'll be more of a DE in college. The thing I wish we would do is eval these local kids earlier & as opposed to going after OOS kids who won't stick long term in the early eval periods.

Butch also knows he is at FIU.
These kids may both end up being all-world, but the fact they were offered by the FIU coach (whoever that is) doesn't tell me much about whether they are UM quality.

First off, I want to believe that is you in that avatar so don't ever tell me otherwise. lol.

Second, yes you were the first one that brought up this kid Kancey. Hope Diaz and Simpson keep an eye on him. Prop Joe said he was 6'0 265 which isn't horrible. **** isn't Nesta 6'1? He can be our "developmental" take for this year. I am 110% okay with taking one of these per year as long as its a local kid and as long as there is only 1 or 2 at the most. (Nigel Bethel was last years)
