The chain was great when we were winning. I think Mario might leave it up to the team. I don’t anticipate celebrating when we’re losing any more. Personally i would like it scrapped.

my only rules for the chain are can’t come out if down by more than 14 and this ain’t no recruiting visit prop. You wanna wear this chain you come to the U and then you can flick up in it.

I hate seeing kids just taking pictures in it on a recruiting visit. Especially those you know ain’t coming to the school

I think it should only be used for recruiting pics , it looks dope with the jerseys

But if they insist on using it in games , it should only be big plays in big games ...like a season opener ranked matchup , ranked matchup with a rival or ranked matchup with conference/playoff indications , big time bowl game

I understand the mentality of kids love it. Just my opinion reward for making big plays should be more playing time. I admit to being very old school about some things though

Nothing wrong with the chain when we win. Most of y’all don’t like it because we been losing and not backing the chain up. How bout we step our game back up. Then there is no issue with the chain.

Most embarrassing sight is these kids putting on the chain and celebrating like they won a championship when theyre down 21 pts to a mid level ACC team. Im okay for keeping it but there needs to be rules put in place.

The longer it went on the more I thought the chain should be given at the discretion of the head coach on any play he thought was good enough to merit it. A run of the mill turnover or TD should be left alone. But if it's up to the coach to decide, and it's done sparingly, that could be weaponized to be given during big moments at specific points in a game and that would be special. If you only did it a handful of times a year it would be monstrous when it did happen. It's not automatic, it's earned, like a Paul Hollywood handshake.

It's like literally EVERYTHING else involved with the team. When they're winning it's awesome, when they're losing it's trash.

I agree that it should probably not make appearances when the team is getting smoked.

It's funny how the national media still makes a big deal about it but doesn't bother mentioning any of the other teams' turnover trinkets. Like Miami is the only team with a corny turnover themed prize.

I like the chain in theory but giving it out for every single turnover is a bit much, regardless of score.

I don’t think some guy falling on a ball and recovering a fumble should get the chain, as an example. It would be best if it only comes out for not only a very good play, but at a big momentum changing moment. I know it would be hard to write out the parameters for that, but you know what I mean.

Tight game and a guy jumps a route and makes a nice INT or a strip sack etc.

Not for some easy INT off a terrible throw in the 1st QT of a game

☝️ This.

Make it like the 3 stars of the game announcement after hockey games or a public awarding of a game ball. Just do it with the Turnover Chain instead. I know Miami has their own video crew at the games. Have Mario announce it on camera and the player wears it to the locker room. It is extra incentive to win and you get recognition for a game well-played.
Exactly!! You get to wear it for a “Off the Chain” performance!!!

Chains and rings need to go in a glass case. The time has come and gone.

It was fun in 2017 when we had a run.

time to retire the chain. it was an amazing tool that brought national attention to the program, unfortunately the wins didn't follow.

it also started a fad across all sports, both pro and college level which is pretty incredible and the we were tops in turnovers so we backed it up for 2 solid years before it got old

Only rings we should be playing for is ACC and Natty ships

I hate how this generation constantly needs immediate gratification.

I’m 37….. baaahumbug
Wait until you're in your 40s and you start telling idiots to get off your lawn, when they are walking down the street. You'll REALLY hate those **** rings then.

A lot of us are sick and tired of the turnover chain, and I totally understand why. It's a gimmick, it's a symbol of the Diaz era, and dear God why do they ALWAYS gotta pull it out, even when we are down by 3 scores. I'm in agreement with all of this.

That said, the turnover chain, back in it's heyday, was a force to be reckoned with. It could energize the team, help shift momentum completely in our favor, and demoralize opponents. There's a reason a bunch of teams copied the concept around the country, and I believe even some NFL players have experimented with it.

So why not do this: the chain only comes out when Coach Cristobal says it comes out. Like a mid-game (or post-game) helmet sticker but way better. It would obviously have to be a potentially game changing play on defense (like when Bandy took it to the house against ND; you knew the game was over at they point). Mario obviously ain't going to pull it out if we are getting blown out or winning but playing against the FAMUs of the world. And the players would have an added incentive to make the big play.

Thoughts?
It can be that again.

Talismans have their place in good times and bad. Just have to be used correctly.
