Trying not to be overconfident...

A huge transition is not unreasonable, there were a ton of young, mostly undersized guys and frankly Dukes offense last year was better than uf's.

True but we also gave up 151 yards rushing to Duke, which is UF's forte. I expect improvement though.

They are very capable of showing up and dominating the iine of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. The noles learned this last year

Unless our defense makes a huge transition I'm not overlooking any offense. We gave up 583 yards in our last game to Duke....DUKE! W

And if last year's defenses played the gators they probably would have given up more.
If you can't look at this year's team and recognize that it's not the same team, then you are either ignorant, blind, or on this board for nefarious purposes.

Miami 56 Florida 17.

That's right an *** kicking.

so in the same post you called someone ignorant and then predicted a 39 point win? LMAO

Yeah, I did. What about it?

Will likely be a wider margin, but I've gotten more conservative in my old age.

I want to kill them but I need to take of my cane glasses. Their defense, even with all the talent they lost, will be better than last year IMO or just as good. And don't give me the "they lost 5 (or however many) starters bull****." When we were dominant we reloaded year after year. Bama did it last year when they lost 8 starters and was still a premiere defense. Our O-line, as good as they are, will be put to the test and will be beat numerous times. Guys like Bullard, Easley, Fowler, and Powell will be very tough to guard for 48. Their secondary is right up there with their d-line in terms if talent. Lets be honest, we didn't do jack **** against a good defense last year. And for their offense, I know we always say Driskell sucks but supposedly I'm hearing that he has made some strides since the end of last year. He was only a sophomore last year, he'll be more mature and poised and he can run with his feet. We can definetly win this game, but it will be tough and I would have to say advantage UF depending on how much our D has improved.

I just know that Trey Burton is going to get hit by Denzel Perryman or Alex Figueroa.... smh :ohlord:

Their best receivers though are true freshman.... Demarcus Robinson, Alvin Bailey, and Ahmad Fullwood are dangerous if we slip up. But i dont think a bunch of true freshman receivers that have to depend on Driskell are going to be the difference in this game.

I am going to confidently say that our Defense is better then their offense especially w/o Matt Jones.... I think it might be a back and forth game at first b/c of the energy but eventually Miami is going to pull away like we did against VT last year.

Final score: 34-17 :neonu:

I'm going to put this out there for anyone who wants it.

I'm taking Miami over Florida straight up. No points needed.
Calling all you gator trolls. 100 bucks a pop.
Who wants to bet?
Pm me and we can share info because I do expect to collect the winnings.

Lol, I'm not betting because, like I said, we can definitely beat them, so that's not a safe beat. And lol at Gator trolls, I think Alabama has a more talented team then UM, which I guess by your logic means I must also be an Alabama troll. Smh

I think our O will be very good. I think their D will be very good.
I think our D will be OK. I think their O will be OK.

I feel like our team is primed to take the next step. Upward trajectory hunger, homefield, and Duke will be enough to win it. I hope, anyway. Blowout speculation is unfounded.

I wouldn't trade a single starter on Miami's offense for anybody on the Gator offense. Not one.

But this defense has made worse offenses look good. It's going to come down to Chickillo, Porter, Perryman, Gilbert, Bush and the rest of them.

If we can get a Special Teams TD or even a pick 6 I think it will be the difference in the game for us. The Special Teams TD is more likely though since we got Duke taking kicks back and I'm hoping Stacey Coley siezes the PR job by then.

I'm also hoping we can get back to being that team that blocks punts and FG's too. I remember when it was us an VT that just did that head and shoulders above everyone else in the country. Even though flubberkneck always got more credit than us.

Also, if O'Donnell the new punter is as good as advertized that could be huge for the field positon battle. With their offense being what it is, I think if we pin them inside their own 10 it compounds things for them and forces Driskell into his mistake mode.

Night game? Then we might be playing under ARTIFICIAL lighting. I hope our coaches consider that.

Two things. I'll state the obvious about this game that is a huge early season test.

One is that this offense has to move and score points against a quality D. Didn't really do that much last year. New year, new coordinator. We'll see.

The other is that the D has to stop somebody. Al stated the other day that comparing last years D to this years is night and day. I hope so, because there's nowhere to go but up from last year.

One other thing. I hope our guys get calls and texts from every Cane alum about the team we're playing. You know, that family thing. I trust that Alonzo, Ray, Art and the rest of the guys will get the point across. This is a team you don't lose to, ever. It's why you come to Miami, to play a team like that. After we beat them, our guys can have the satisfaction of the Gator refusing to play us for another twenty years or so. Probably cite travel expenses or some shizz as a reason they can't play us. Seize the moment. ****, how many days 'til the season starts?
