Trevonte Citizen injury considered serious [Sep 23 - *may* return this year]

50% of this year's starting NFL RB's led their team in rushing as a True Freshman

So you saying "even with great backs, getting tons of playing time in their first year is extremely uncommon" is false. It actually happens all the time.

Seems strange to argue otherwise

OK so 16 players, and that’s according to your stats. There are more than 16 very good to great running backs every year in the NCAA.

These aren't "my" stats. They're just "the" stats. Which ones are you questioning?

I agree there's plenty more - here's just some of them:

Starters: Cam Akers, Travis Etienne, JK Dobbins, Austin Ekeler
Back-ups: Ronald Jones, Duke Johnson, Isiah Spiller, Myles Gaskin, Semaje Perrine, Marlon Mack, Qadree Ollison, Anthony McFarland, KeShawn Vaughn
Recently Retired: Adrian Peterson, LeSean McCoy, Todd Gurley, James White, Dion Lewis
Still in College: Bijan Robinson, Treveyon Henderson, Sean Tucker, Zach Charbonnet, Tank Bigsby

And these are just RB's that LED their team in rushing as Freshman. If we're looking at the original statement of "played a ton" - the list becomes MUCH bigger.

If you said of the 120+ RB's that will be Freshman this year - a small % will play "a ton" this year, then you're absolutely correct. Half won't EVER play a ton

But what you said is "great RB's playing right away is extremely uncommon" - and that's false. I've given you 30+ examples now. It happens all the time.

Why are you still arguing this?

The direct quote was "Horton will be back in 3-4 days. Citizen's injury is more significant than Horton's." .... I didn't take that as "he suffered a significant injury" like all the headlines every reporter is reporting. Just that it's not something insignificant like Horton's was. Which lines up to the hyperextension everyone speculated when he 1st got injured
If it’s a hyper extension, he’ll be back by mid October latest. That’s usually 4-8 weeks

That's the thing it's hard for me to believe anybody want an ACL is the easiest thing to diagnose and the quickest. It's Tuesday morning if it's an ACL somebody would've figured it out by now
Just because it’s not public doesn’t mean it hasn’t been figured out. There’s also various degrees of ACL tears. They could be waiting until it’s totally certain what the recovery time likely is etc.

In my experience the media told right before surgery. That's been pretty consistent since I covered the team in recruiting and after that.

First of all, best of luck to TreVonte' on a successful surgery and rehab. I feel terrible for him, these are never fun no matter when they happen, but for it to be in camp before your freshman year in a time where you're really eager to show the world what you can do, it's really ******. But, if everything goes smoothly, he should be 100.0% by next fall camp. If this HAS to happen, it's better now than in October or November. I expect him to be a full-go when we open camp in 2023. Absolute best of luck to him, and come back even stronger.

As far as the team, it's pretty rare to not have a single season-ending injury in camp. Seems like everyone has this happen to at least 1 kid in summer or camp. Let's just hope this is our "one" and get through the rest of camp healthy. Now would be a REALLY good time for Don Chaney to remind people he's actually very good at football. If Chaney can be the borderline 5-star talent he was expected to be, this shouldn't cripple the team overall. Even though I think a lot of folks had their eyes on Citizen stealing this job by mid-season, this was always going to be a pretty rotation heavy backfield. We still have excellent versatility there, and 4 kids who should be able to get the job done. I don't think this hurts the outlook of the season very much, but again, it's imperative that Chaney become what he's capable of. If he does, it lessens the impact of this injury significantly and everyone can still have a role. But I still expect Chaney and Parrish to split the traditional RB work, Thad to have some sort of short-yardage role at a minimum, and Rooster to be used very heavily in the passing game. These 4 can still get it done and then some, but it's time to come correct and show everyone why you're here.
This sucks because the kid isnt local and that can be tough on freshman. Rehabs are TOUGH on even veterans, year long by yourself in training room while team moves on without you is something you hear over and over as mentally tough even vets in NFL.. Hopefully the kid is mentally tough and is able to stick it thru..

Wish we could of seen him on the field atleast once, you never know how these injuries play out.. Terrible to get hurt in first week of practice as true freshman, smfh.. One of the top crown jewels of our class, of course..

C'mon man plenty of people work really early and 4:30 is a normal hour. Plenty of people work overnight and may be on a break.

This is exactly what I said: “even with great backs, getting tons of playing time in their first year, especially right off the bat, is extremely uncommon”

You somehow changed my quote. Prior to that you changed the topic to NFL backs. I don’t know how you’re defining great, I didn’t say elite, I said great, there’s lots of great backs in college football every year.

Apparently you just wanted to start a ****ing contest, as you usually do when it comes to running backs. This thread is about Citizen, not about you trying to somehow establish your bona fides as a running back expert. I stand by what I said, let’s get back to the topic and stop with the derail.

Consider the sauce, but DBC on twitter is saying it isn't an ACL. No matter the injury, it sounds like this kid was going to get some serious burn this year.

I understand you are just posting what someone else is saying but no need to rarely, if ever use DBC as a source of info especially when @SWFLHurricane is a trusted source of info and he already told you what the deal is as well as D$ with the extra tea leaf.
