Transfer season already underway

How much is Columbus offering kids these days? Looks like they've really upped their recruiting budget.

Kids get full rides on scholarship. I have no idea about extra stuff, I would be surprised about that. Not sure if that's what you meant by 0.

They get financial aid, not scholarships

Vastly different lol....they don't pay a penny. Full "financial aid" sponsored by boosters.

hahahhaha I don't believe that for a second. you shouldn't either.

Ask De Pinga

No one is getting a duffel bag to play at Columbus. At most they're getting is financial aid to go. From what I remember, Jakari Gore's tuition was paid for by his uncle. CCHS also has some of the best coaches and facilities in Dade county to boot.

This. They've turned a bunch of kids down over the years that have wanted to transfer in as well.

Lamarcus Joyner tried to transfer from Southwest to Columbus and they denied him after he met with the Principal and they saw his grades/criminal record.

I remember that was because Southwest pitched a fit with FHSAA.

And hat same financial aid is offered to non-athletes.

They're offering the chance to attend the finest academic institution in South Florida steeped in unparalleled athletic excellence.

You are either being obtuse or naive... everyone sees what goes on. Let's not pretend this is some magnanimous outreach program being sponsored by wealthy alumni for impoverished inner city kids. They also offer the full financial aid to kids that don't necessarily need it. I know this goes on at a lot of the private schools. I guess you could justify the whole thing as a natural extension of the football culture we live in, especially on this recruiting board and community, but it feels a little dirtier talking about 14 and 15 year old kids.

I graduated with 7 different kids that all were in the top 10th percentile of the graduating class that were given financial aid. None of those kids sniffed a field or a court. And those are just kids I know of.

What? That has nothing to do with this....I'm sure tons of kids get financial aid unrelated to sports.

The point I'm trying to make is that Columbus offers financial aid to those who can't afford to pay regardless of whether they play sports or not.

Thanks, wasn't questioning that. But Columbus/Heritage/etc aren't covering every kid that comes applying from Goulds or Liberty City....they are "invited" to apply, and finances are arranged. It's only going to get worse now that these teams are making money for TV and travel. High Schools will start operating like mini colleges who are just exploiting a new revenue stream.

Another 4-star CB from Coco Creek is transferring... This time it's Marquis Williams.

Coco creek had one the deepest secondary's this season, but with the emergence of 2019 CB Tiawan Mullen (Trayvon's lil brother), they'll still be pretty solid.

For every action, there is opposite and equal. This too shall past once there is a backlash.

Given this, is anyone really surprised kids don't care about repping the U? They don't have any allegiance to their HS, why would they suddenly care about a college just because it's in Miami? I'd be surprised if there isn't money or favors being exchanged in the HS transfer process. And if there isn't yet, there will be shortly.

BTW, what really surprises me is a transfer from Booker T to Central. That's like transferring from Germany to Russia in WWII.

Is this what it's come to? Fake Planters' Peanut classy monologues from 15 year olds that always end with "no interviews" and "please respect my decision to be a disloyal front-running cumbag because I said a bunch of nice stuff about people I obviously don't give a **** about."

This is why it's so hard for UM to recruit down here. The front-running "look at me" **** has gone sublime. You got 15 year old kids offering up 5000 word soliloquies on their selfish disloyal traitor moves acting like they just discovered the cure for cancer. And then the retarded sycophants are always there with the "God bless! You're so classy" comments to enable this horseshyt.

These motherfckers are quitting their team to go front-run somewhere, and they're taking the stage with this fake tearful heartfelt bullshyt like they're going off to Iraq to defend the United States. It's insanity.

These MF'ing kids act like they're committing somewhere with these long, drawn out twitter decisions.

"Blessed to say I'm transferring to..."

One thing about being on the West coast now, I definitely don't miss all that bullsh!t.

I couldn't agree more.
With regards to the fake douchey monologues, you can thank Lebron for that nonsense.
Folks in soFla are front-running copycats.

I started hating the trend when kids started announcing where they'll attend college through some type of video (example: Herebert's Walking Dead video). BUt yeah, this transferring mess is on a whole another level. I wonder if this is happening in other states like Florida.
