Total Revenues by Team

Been saying it for years.

A great coach - a very top coach - NEVER costs a University a single dime. Regardless of what they're paid.

A great coach - a winning coach - earns all his money himself, and earns the University a ton of money. Bama's coach doesn't cost the University of Alabama a single dime.

Just like a good salesman. He doesn't cost a company a dime. He makes his own salary, and lots for the company.

The intellectual geniuses that run this University - to be supposedly so smart - are some real world dumbasses.

If only they had your smarts. Perhaps you should volunteer your guidance.

It would be as simple as walking down to the Finance, Economics, and Marketing departments and asking a few questions.

OR they could ask one of their alumni very successful businessmen.

Now, wasn't that simple? Ten bucks says you don't home school your children.

Yeah so Florida brought in $129M in total profit, and had $114M in total expenses. Their Football team alone had $25M in expenses and $74M in profit. So clearly UF is in so much financial trouble that the can't possibly travel the 330 miles to Miami to play us yearly. Does anyone actually believe the excuses their AD makes up as to why they can't play us?

Are you really stupid enough to believe that the admin has never hired business/finanace/marketing consultants?

Yes, you really should volunteer. I'm sure your input would be invaluable.

So IYO, how would a "great coach" make Miami more money? They have revenue sharing in the conference, they're on TV more than 85%+ of schools, winning more games and increased attendance, that's suspect considering the attendance in the title years, so where's it going to come from?

Same damned way they made money before! When you are winning, you're selling merchandise, you're selling tickets - especially when you play a halfway decent team, and there were significant enrollment increases when Miami was on top. Increases year after year. The alumni were energized and they were writing checks. It was an exciting thing to be talked about year-round, but especially in the fall and through the NC game.

I don't care where you lived, or who were the top teams, or who was supposed to be the Team of the Century that year - there was always whispers and talk about Miami and what they were going to have to say about the matter.

We were Giant Killers. And there's revenue in Giant Killers.

AAHHH. All we have to do is win more!! Genius, I tell you!

Nobody said UF was in financial trouble. Being fiscally responsible in the present is how you avoid problems in the future.

Are you so damned stupid, you can't understand that the football program brings in a ton of revenue from multiple avenues beyond the ACC? How simple minded does one have to be, to not understand the financial benefits of a top winning program?

We didn't have big revenues when Schnellenburger won his National Championship, but revenues started increasing immediately. And the other National Championship teams and even in the slightly off years - they built a ton of buildings at the University.

And no, if no one in this Administration has figured out the basics of how a top coach INCREASES revenues, then I doubt they ever will. It's common for discoveries in disciplines to go unnoted because the electromagnetic engineering crew can't walk over to the physics crew and realize some of their problems have already been solved.

You really, really don't get out much, do you?

Not really, but the simple concept seems to be over the heads of the UM administration.

And yours. Which don't take much.

Foley said it doesn't make financial sense to play Miami every year because when they traveled here in 2012 it cost their athletic department $500K. That was his excuse, and obviously they are nowhere close to being in financial trouble. If they wanted to be financially responsible, then they would play Miami yearly, and move the Georgia game to home-away instead of neutral site. Unless you're going to tell me bringing Miami to Gainesville every other year doesn't generate more money for the school AND the city than paying $550K to play a Georgia Southern every year. These are facts.
