Tommy Kinsler (OL commit) senior HL

Orlando Franklin vibes for me.

Could play both tackle and guard. Massive humans.

I like that comp. We can only hope, loved Franklin.

Super high on Kinsler’s potential. He is the biggest guy on the roster right now and his ability to run like he does for someone 6’6 330+ is extremely rare. If he can get the mental down, he is going to hear his name called by Goodell in a few years, early. You start him off inside and cross train him for RT if needed there *knock on wood*. Him inside next to Mauigoa will be criminal in the run game and it’s exactly what we have been missing. Him and Cooper inside next year would be the best and most powerful interior combo we have had since Franklin/Figs.

I definitely didn’t expect to see Cooper end up contributing the way he did last year so maybe Kinsler can as well but he absolutely looks like a project. Not as big of a project like Frankie but still a project. The great news is that is a great canvas as a prospect, gigantic and can run.

In the run blocking he looks like a monster and when he gets his hands on you, you are done for, can get to the second level with ease. The problem I saw though there was that he missed a ton of blocks on his highlight on the first level and just ran and destroyed someone on the second. It worked out pretty well in those plays but something I noticed. Pass blocking wise he looked decent but not great, really just handled smaller guys who didn’t really even try to test him on the outside.
I don’t think you can say he missed the blocks unless you know the scheme. He may be asked to chip and go to next level. Also, If you say Kinsler just handled smaller dudes but everyone thinks Pancake Honcho is that guy and play even worse comp. I would argue Kinsler had more pancakes than him last year against much better comp. I actually liked Kinslers tape better and think he’s more athletic at a bigger frame. I think Kinsler plays sooner even though we are stacked at guard. Honcho has a ways to go because he was playing against some lil Timmy’s lol.

Samson made his name stone walling the best of the best in camps and his feet are second to none. It was said on here that while the staff loves Kinsler, they thought Samson was a top 5 overall talent that cycle. You are right I don’t know the scheme and he may have been asked to do that but he seemed lost on those plays and was just looking for anybody to destroy. The good news is that even lost, you can’t teach a guy that big to run that well.
