Todays scrimmage

I know this is unpopular but I want Arab Money to start over Shayon. I'm sorry we need a constant pass rush to help our secondary.

Because a team is going to throw the ball every down right? On top of that, for this hypothetical lets start a true freshman over a 5th year senior (Gilbert) who has the same qualities (better than Quan) when healthy. Green needs his role lessened, but he can still provide depth. This isn't NCAA football, you need men on the line. Quan will provide a good pass rush & is a freak but if he's starting we have problems.

2nd half notes:

After one possession that ends in defensive stop 1st team offense and part of 1st team defense comes off the field. Williams comes on for Morris. Crawford for Duke. Perryman stays on.

Nifty 10 yd run by Crawford.

Williams pressured by Gilbert and Muhammad on consecutive plays. Throws incomplete.

Williams sacked by what looked like Kamalu. Not sure though.

Williams misfiring. Hold that. Williams hits Coley for a 30 yd td. (Someone said it was Lewis but pretty sure Coley was receiver.) Otherwise Williams still misfiring!

final possession:

DNofrio yelling for Kamalu. Big boy. Lines up at DT next to Renfrow.

20 yd completion Williams to Coley. Tackled by Jamal Carter.

Tyriq McCord bats pass down at line.

25 yd screen pass to OT. Nice to see.

Tyriq McCord touch sack on Williams erases a nice td pass to Sandland in end zone.

12 yd 1st down to Garret Kidd. Ball at 9yd line with 48 seconds to go.

1st down incomplete. Kelvin Cain bats down pass on 2nd. Incompletion intended for Dmauri Jones on 3rd down. Defense wins possession.

Wait...offense goes for it on 4th down. Williams hits Stacey Coley for 9 yd touchdown on 4th down. Scrimmage over.

For what it's worth. Offense 31 - Defense 19. More importantly no injuries in 2nd half.

I wouldn't dismiss AQM so lightly. I also wouldn't say that Gilbert is a better pass rusher than AQM at this point.
Gilbert is a known quantity. He started 13 games last year and had 4 sacks. In 4 years playing college Gilbert has 14.5 tfl's and 8.5 sacks. Chick in 2 years has 13 tfl's and 9 sacks and most people, not myself, think Chick is a below average to average pass rusher.
So what does that say for Gilbert?
Quan looks like a guy who could go off like Rusty Madearis and get 4.5 sacks in his 1st ever game.
Not saying it will happen, just saying that to compare AQM to Gilbert is, honestly, a huge compliment to Gilbert.

Maybe chick had a family issue or something that took him away from the game. Some things are bigger than football.

I believe MagCane controls the CIS drone, it's a cooler visual in my mind then ripping it from another site

Exactly. Arab Money just provides that extra bit of athleticism and burst that we have sorely been lacking. Also, who's to say he would be so much worse than Shayon in run support? Shayon is alright as a player but a starter at a major D-1 program? No. He is a rotation guy.

Has Gilbert not been playing with nagging foot injuries his only career at Wisconsin? Gilbert's 4 sacks last year at Wisconsin would have been more than anyone on our team. As I mentioned before, he was playing with a nagging injury. Gilbert's freshman year he played sparingly, and his junior year was cut short (played 3 games) due to injury. You think a true freshman can get 4.5 sacks in one game? 4.5 sacks in one season would be a success for AQM.

Just for some reference, these player as freshman totaled

-Mario Edwards: 1.5 sacks
-Noah Spence: 1 sack
-Jonathan Bullard: 1.5 sacks
-Channing Ward: 0
-Tyriq McCord: 3.5 sacks
-Devonte Fields 9 sacks

These were the statistics of 6 top DE prospects of the 2012 class.

AQM has elite passing rushing skills, everyone can see it. From the fans to the coaches watching it everyday at practice. He is a freak, but he's not ready to start right away. If you read my edited post (before you replied) I stated that. Gilbert has gotten the job done at a d1 level already. When healthy he can provide a pass rush. You must also remember that there's more to pass rushing than just sacks. Causing havoc & consistent pressure is vital to disrupting the qbs poise. AQM is a freshman, and I would feel much better with a proven player in Gilbert over AQM. The OP also said he wanted AQM to start over Green because of pass rush, as if opponents pass the ball on every down. Another example goes for Gunter and Burns. Burns could be better than all of our corners by week 10, but as of now, he still has to prove himself.
