Today : Watching Ala/Ga. Defense closely (Miami related)

Last press conference, Golden made a comment about how different McCord will look at 245lbs instead of 215lbs.

They are doing it with our old coach (stoutland)

We never ran on teams like this. I am starting to believe this Strength issue more.
 
There is a DEFINITE size/strength difference between the Bama OL/DL and us... There center/gaurds look beast compared to us and the way they get movement 1on1 blocking is IMPRESSIVE

And we cant sit here and say "man, I wish we had Bama oline coach" because we did. And we never ran like that before.

The difference is glaring in the training/supplements dept.

I know. It is a combination of things. The OC wanting (attitude) to run power plays, and the obvious S&C issue. It is also the design of plays/blocking schemes as well.

'Bama's got some war daddys up front on that offensive line. Was really impressed with Barrett Jones and how he played off John Jenkins. That was some next-level stuff by Jones.
 
I know we're young but we're a long way off from long like either of those teams physically
 
Cooper has ridiculous acceleration. Changes gears fluidly. On the game winner, he separated, slowed up, and separated and was never less than two arm lengths of the cornerback. Ridiculous.

Something has to change with our off season program. I don't know if we need to get on that juice or something similar, maybe Swasey does suck, but the difference between the raw power and explosiveness of their DL/OL compared to ours is startling. Huge gap right now.

Also the types of players 'Bama recruits, too. Lots of violence at impact...that's part coaching and S+C, but a lot of that has to do with the mentality of the player they are recruiting.

Especially given the fact that the entire CFB world, outside of the SEC, is moving towards (or already there) an air raid, spread, throw 50+ times a game style of play. Even Bama got a taste of it (A&M with freshman QB & 1st year staff on the road)

If UM had Tommy Moffitt right now it wouldn't matter much how we recruit in terms of size. Moffitt (and other top S&C staffs) gets those boys playing with explosiveness.
 
What I noticed was that both defenses had JUCO DT's, and then I thought of Nick Fairley....me wants JUCO DT's!!!

Yup. You obviously need to have a legit S&C programing, but this is partly why kids like Deon hit hard as ****. Has nothing to do with their size...ol boy is under 200 lbs. Kid just seems like he loves to hit people. Seems like Golden is recruiting more of these types of kids, which is a good sign for the future.
