To the handlers:

WhatTheHell:

STFU for a second. IF this ish is going down (which most people with a brain can see), I think it'd be a fascinating story.

I think people would be legitimately shocked at what goes on, and since Miami will never play the game this way under Shalala, it would help this school if this ish was exposed. How bout trying to accomplish something instead of constantly saying what we all know.

Are you stupid or do you just have selective memory?

Our coaches were dropping kids off at a booster's house on their visits. The **** are you talking about "Miami will never play this game under Shalala," we just did.

I'm laughing at anyone believing all SEC schools pay, but that we don't. Jamaal Carter, Artie Burns, Deon Bush, Tracy Howard - just a few of well-off kids who couldn't use the money you guys claim they were being offered. Nope. Rather not make a dime.

Tracy got paid?

If this was happening, than they were taking a huge risk. UM has a much harder time getting the community and press to circle the wagons like they do at the big football factories like in the SEC and some in the ACC. We'd never be protected by the press. I don't know that we've ever been totally clean, but I think it's always been much more difficult for us to play the game the way the big schools play it. Even Nevin Shapiro complained that he couldn't compete with the SEC schools. If we were doing it the way the competition is, we would have Lane, Cook and Valentine in the fold, I suspect. We've lost far too many recruiting battles over the years for the marquee kids for us to be competitive in violating the rules. Still, we get caught, the others don't.

I did read that Genron made a phone call to UM coaches for Tracy in one of the articles on street agents. Why? I don't know. Why couldn't Tracy make the call himself. Maybe we're not willing to match what Genron wants for TV (assuming this is the case), because of our probation and we don't want to risk the death penalty. If coaches were doing this with Deion, Tracy and the others, they were putting the program at great risk...and their careers at great risk.

I'm not saying I know what Genron is doing, but his involvement and the stories arouse suspicion. He can clear it all up by coming on here and explaining exactly what he is doing and how he supports himself. If he thinks I'm slandering him, he has now made himself a public figure, so I'd have to be acting with malice, if I understand the case law. He'd have to find me up north, and he'd likely recover little, since I'm not wealthy, and he would risk discovery into his finances, means of support and activities.

You know not what you mess with. People negging because they are upset about a kid getting paid when the system sucks in billions. Living with your head in the sand. Put your orange and green blinders on and blow rosey sunshine up your *** to make yourself feel better about a kid getting paid. Here is the deal, most of these kids that do get paid will never make it to the league and never make it out of college.
It is their and their families only hope, and the alternative in most cases is drugs and crime. And some cast the first stone.

I don't ******* like the street agents getting their cuts, but it is what it is. This **** aint changing, and it is only getting bigger. Neg me for saying it, but it is the truth, and I stick by I hope these kids and their families get as much money as they can get, if they are getting as much as you all think or not.

Either way, I'll be in the stands supporting the team on the field, and being a Hurricanes fan, but I won't be ignorant of the fact of the real like applications that go on.

You all start messing with folks money, and you all might get a bit more than you chewed off.

Ya take 100k from some family that desperately needs it. Way to teach those millionaire boosters a lesson!!

wtf are you talking about? wait you actually think they pay some of these kids 100k?!

Well there are stories of kids being offered SIGNIFICANT 6 figure sums.

Do you know how much money T Boone gave OSU? Or Knight has given Oregon? Do you know how many big $ boosters programs like UT have? All that Oil money and a bunch of good old boys who just want to win? I can see them giving kids 100K.

bro this isn't the Sopranos....few ex high school coaches, some current high school coaches running a side business. sooner of later this is going to blow up and they will stop for a while and start again..

we are playing by the rules so we are going to suck for a while.. I just want to even the playing field a bit by hedging some of these aggressive SEC boosters

I agree with this. Its real easy to sit back and act self righteous from our comfy houses and act like these kids should be all "pure" and "ethical" when someone is offering them big money to go to some school. But the reality is for most of these kids, they come from poor homes, where 50K or whatever will go a LONG way for their families. They can go risk their bodies at school X for free, or they can go do it for a decent chunk of money to help their families. So why not? If they blow out their knees in a year, what do they get then? Nothing. Its hard to really blame these kids for taking money when they do.

I also agree this is something very dangerous to be f*cking with. This is a BIG time money maker for some people, and many of these arent the type of people who you want to be f*cking with their cash flow.

Its not the boosters. Its the hustlers and "advisors" you have to be careful with.

To be honest, I wish we had the boosters to compete.

LOLOL I'm not interested in doing this as a Canes fan. I'm interested in doin this as an opponent of cheating. As someone who finds the pimping of kids from broken homes as a disgrace. I am someone who finds it shameful that adults associated with a University can willingly cheat and take advantage of impoverished African American youth.

.
These kids should be paid. Legally. But the schools/handlers who operate outside the limits of fairness that have made competition about who can buy the most kids, should be punished SEVERELY.

I find a billion dollar business making its money on free labor to be ****ing disgusting.

All your "research" is going to do is get some school or schools in a little trouble, mostly punishing the free labor (athlete) with no bowl games and such -- one of the few times the NCAA sanctions gifts. Maybe some of the handlers disappear but there will 20 lined up to fill the void.

If you care about the kids your anger is misguided. It is the schools that take advantage, not some middle man trying to get the most out of school, whether it is several gran or several hundred grand it is pennies compared to the schools making millions on the kid. The schools/NCAA deny these kids their earning power and now you want to blame the black market that this denial created, you're *** backwards

FWIW, the "Billion Dollar Industry" is pretty twisted all the way around. Most of the schools dont make what you think. There are only about 20-25 programs in the country that actually make real money on CFB. Most of the rest are usually running in the red or just barely treading water trying to keep up.

I think there needs to be a balanced approach here. I dont believe in flat out paying kids like professionals or the NFL. I think they should allow programs to pay them a stipend like if it was a job, but a school job. Enough so that they kids always had food, spending cash, money to visit their families, go out and party, etc... but not an open market because that will just totally destroy everything that makes this the best sport on Earth. If you turn it into the Jr. NFL, you will have about 15-20 programs dominate the sport, and we will lose what makes CFB so much better than the NFL.

Pay them as student employees of the University. Maybe 10 bucks an hour or something for all the time they spend working out and practicing, going to meetings, etc. I think this would solve probably 80% of the problems. If these kids had money to have fun, buy some clothes, maybe send a little back home to their family, it would take away a lot of the incentive for the cheating. There will always be those who want more, and some level of cheating, but if they felt they were getting treated fairly, I think it would resolve a lot of the problem.

The real money here is going to a handful of programs, ESPN, shoe companies, video game companies, sponsors, etc.... But if you really look at the numbers, most programs are not turning a profit on this. It costs a LOT of money to stay competitive in Division 1 football.
Complete and utter bull****.BCS schools are banking, I don't care about whatever accounting tricks they employe to make it seems like they aren't. Especially tax free institutions that are not keen on flaunting profits for obvious reasons. The budgets at bcs schools grow and grow. Coaches salaries are skyrocketing. Whether they show black on their balance sheet at the end of the year is a game, they are making money.

Furthermore the market to pay players already exists. It is already happening at schools across the country. **** some bum**** school in Texas a couple years was busted for paying women's track athletes. Women's track athletes. That's right.

The market is already there, it is already happening, we just all need to pretend it isn't because we hold onto to some bull**** notion that our school..our team..is the one shining light in a world of darkness. It is horse****. And the NCAA has no incentive because their sports generate billions and they don't have those persy things like labor cost and taxes

That's true. College football and basketball have gotten way out of hand. There's no reason that colleges should be running massive sports businesses involving millions and even billions of dollars. We all contribute to it by being fans. I've never denied it. Many of these kids would never come near the colleges they play for, if football (and basketball) didn't exist. When I was at Georgetown John Thompson was trying to justify the presence of kids like Patrick Ewing and Michael Graham at the university. I doubt that these kids would have ever been students there without basketball. Same for football at schools like the U, and most others. Do Stanford, Notre Dame, Duke, etc. loosen academic standards for their athletes? I suspect they do, although I don't know for sure.

One way the kids get "paid" is an expensive, quality education, or opportunity for that education (if they take advantage of it) for free. That theoretically might be worth several hundred thousand, especially at a private university. Are they still exploited? I believe so. This is not new. I think it was exposed in a 1970's book at Texas football called "Meat on the Hoof." Check out the link:

Leave it to a ****** Gator to be dead wrong. The alternative is to let your KKK conference come down here and cheat? These kids should be paid, but a set equal amount, not by illegally paying "handlers". That kind of behavior is INEXUSIBLE.

I'm the ****** but your myopic "we must stop cheating" crusade does nothing but hurt the people you claimed to care about. You said how you felt bad for the kids because of these scummy handlers yet have no problem denying kids their earning power because you don't like that these kids are not following rules set up by an evil corrupt NCAA. Got it.

If you care about the kids like you claim your anger should be directed at the NCAA. Not kids doing what should be happening in a free market society -- trading labor for income.

And I never said let the sec schools continue to come down and pay kids. It should not be hard to understand what I am saying in my posts. Exposing a couple sec schools for paying players does absolutely nothing. The only change that could ever happen is if enough heat is brought on the NCAA to review it's labor practices. That is it.

agreed. It's like trying to play whack a mole, with one hand tied behind your back; and even those investigating know the whole thing is bull****.

A kid can't get a regular job like anyone on an academic or other scholly. A kid can't sell his own signature. They get enough money to starve at a institution.

Meanwhile, Texas network and ND contract with NBC, the BCS, and the Playoff, etc. produces BILLIONS through the players actions. The coaches are making 7 million plus. And less than one percent of the players goto the league for an average 3 years career there, and all the while are left mutilated and cuncussed even stupider than they already are, and someone is going to poke holes and ethics in someone slipped them money and meals?

Get that hypocritical slavery **** outta here.

Not to mention the VAST majority of athletes are shoved into jock programs. Most these kids barely qualify on reduced admission standards and people think these kids are going right in and becoming regular students AND practicing 20+ hours a week. GTFOH. Special programs are set up to run these kids through, most their degrees aren't worth the paper it is printed on. It just says has a university name at the top,..but that degree is worthless.

Granted some do go through the regular process but it is not encouraged and is in fact discouraged

The Gator is so infuriated by this bc he knows it would crush the SEC.

Read my posts. I have repeatedly said the kids should be paid FAIRLY. Exposing the fact that schools willingly cheat but hide behind "amateurism" would make them look massively hypocritical and HELP MORE KIDS get paid FAIRLY, while also providing a TRULY competitive sport.

Jesus Christ iron your jorts and stfu. The idea that cheating is ok bc "the system is broken" proves that **** needs to change.

hcanes and tokengator. Take your sociological discussion elsewhere.

Yes, the kids should be paid.

Yes the schools are a joke with slave labor.

Yes the NCAA is a sham that protects the schools from having to pay for labor.

BUT NONE OF THAT IS AN EXCUSE FOR CERTAIN SCHOOLS TO BLATANTLY BREAK THE RULES THAT ARE IN PLACE.

A documentary exposing the fraud of collegiate sports would do WAY MORE to foster a move towards actually legally paying kids than just sitting on your hands and saying "oh well".

Ya you nailed it. Your documentary about handlers getting several grand for a kid here, 20k for a kid there, would absolutely crush a billion dollar entity. You aren't very bright are you?

Like I said,..if your documentary came to fruition you are hurting several groups but none who intended to hurt. You hurt the kid and his family that was working with the handler..chances are a very poor family that really needed the money..if the kid doesnt make the pro's maybe you can give him the 10k he was offered that was exposed by your film and do it from your documentary earnings...you hurt the handler, but who cares they are all scumbags right?....and you hurt the kids on that schools roster that has to sit out a bowl game or two.

The school? That check still comes in from CBS and ESPN.

The booster? He loses his status as an official booster. Might hurt his pride.

Just because I don't agree with everything that you said, it doesn't mean I was attacking you or asking you to leave. It would seem you may not be able to have a logical discussion on a topic if someone disagrees with some or all of your points...
