Time to cut ties...

...with the DC.

Unacceptable.
We need to bring in someone with innovation and
passion. We're bringing in and have great D talent, we need a
DC that utilizes and maximizes the talent we have.

It's taken a while but now we're starting to see the same bull**** from last season. I'm disappointed. I was a believer but not so much anymore. We're a little better at some things but we still have way too many holes in this defense. It's just too easy to scheme against.

3rd and 4 or 5 and we played off coverage. I wanna say we were in 2-sink or Quarters coverage, which is basically the same thing, and they just hit an easy out-route to the #2 WR for a first down.

We blitzes our LB's from the two WR side but don't replace them with any other defenders so Wake simply hits their slot on an easy slant route for a first down.

We still can't cover shallow drag routes.

We just get schemed to death all the way down the field by any offense with a pulse.

Everyone thought average defense and we are playing for the ACC ship. So I can't complain to much about the defense. However I'm just not a fan of our scheme. Numerous times we end up with D-lineman out in coverage. We rarely bring pressure and when we do it seems like it comes from 20 yards away. To much bend but don't break. Im sure as the talent on defense continues to improve the defense will but that doesn't mean I have to like our scheme. To passive at times for me.

Wildcat, can you explain the deal with the big OL splits and how to defense it? Why not flood the middle and blow up the play before it even starts? Gracias.

Wide splits is a *****. Brings the D-linemen further from the QB and makes it harder to get pass rush. It's not great for running the ball but it helps with pass protection. Gotta get creative and bring pressure up the middle.

We would just continue to line McCord up on the outside of the tackle. Guy was 10 yards from the ball. Lineup in the gap with someone blitzing the other gap. See if their **** lineman are athletic enough to pick it up. They took away our best past rusher by just lining up wide and we allowed it.

Unfortunately, this.

Our defense is clearly still a work in progress and will continue to be until more talent is brought in. Linebackers get exposed in coverage and we get no pressure up the middle. Our safety play is not Miami caliber, particularly with Bush looking like a shell of himself post injury.

The had a master plan for us today. Coach D had very little answers and we got lucky a few times.

It's unacceptable that it took us 3 quarters to put a CB on the slot....it's the stubborn adherence to this bend don't break **** that let this team control the game.

We allowed them to execute that game plan. We never adjusted or attempted to dictate to them....considering we have better athletes across the board it's just a recipe for an upset....and it almost worked for them.

Guys, We are not there yet talent wise. Our staff is doing a great job with half of our defense being marginal D-1 talent but well coached. Give it time

The defense won us the UF, UNC and Wake games. Can't really deny that. They're better, but there's still some of the same BS going on. We do some random *** **** on defense that makes little sense to me. It's like we leave holes in our defense and hope the offense doesn't see them. I can't think of any other reason that a DC would blitz LB's and NOT replace them with a Safety. That's a massive void. That's how we gave up drag routes last week against UNC. Same thing happened today on an easy slant route from Wake's slot.

The defense wasn't great, but a lot of it was missed tackles when guys actually were in the right place, rather than a horrible call by Coach D or a horrible scheme.
