Time change

As we know, the game this week will be like a 10:30 PM start time. I'm concerned.

There have been some studies that show that West time zone teams beat the spread convincingly against East Coast teams in night games - and this is West Coast night game to make things even worse:

West Coast ATS and West Coast Advantage, and for soccer too Soccer

Worse still, there seems to be a higher risk of injury in East Coast teams playing night games on the west coast..

Risk of Injury

We have the week off, after, sure. But while this isn't the most important game of the season, it could likely be the most significant. Poor job of whomever was responsible for scheduling.

The only alternative is to fly to the East - over the Atlantic, Europe, Asia, the Pacific - and come in from the West.

Decisions, decisions.

So ******* soft.

No one cares.

They'll have like 2 and a half days to "acclimate" to what amounts to a long rain delay.

They're not travelling across the planet and going from the plane to the locker room.

Some people here are just clueless.
you dont even get jet lagged for 3 hours. it only hits you when you come back east

Change tampon. Keep marching. Add a panty liner if it’s a really heavy flow day.

There really isn’t jet lag flying east to west you moron. You gain 3 hours, not lose. It’s 3 times zones.
It’s not like flying East where u lose the hours.
The game starts at 7:30. You’re acting like our guys will be asleep because to them it will be 10:30.
We have the biggest moron ***** fanbase

So.....you think we should forfeit then

If things are even, as in the score, it could be the difference. I'll just say I speak from experience and the rest of you can go back to acting like you know what it's like being a collegiate athlete in this type of situation.

The staff will do it's best to minimize it and are doing so by leaving a day early. Anytime you change routines, yes college athletes have routines they get used to, it can be a factor. They have like or similar routines that try and accommodate start times, but this is completely different.

Let's just hope it isn't close. That we're just better than them all around. I'm not saying we can't win a close one, but this gametime is closer to Cal's norm than it is ours.

Not the greatest comparison or example but Michigan State goes to Oregon and plays Friday night at 9pm ET. A little earlier and closer normal kick but still a difference and ET to PT transition.

24.5 point spread - interested to see how they fare relative to that spread or if its just a total blowout from the kick.

People who say this is nothing are wrong, but it’s also not a huge deal. That’s why you travel on Thursday, that will help a lot.

Cam Ward vs Cal Defense

61/99 697yds 6TD's & 3INT's

Think Cal is leading the nation in interceptions right now. Haven't played anyone good at passing, but still.

Will be a good test to see if Cam can stay relatively clean. I don't want more than 1 turnover. Gotta secure the football and not have any just dumb decisions like he had on the fumble last week.

If we have 1 or fewer turnovers and stay decently clean from penalties, we're winning every game on our schedule even if our defense just plays conservative and letting our DLine go to work.

They have a very good Secondary, particularly their CB group.

The fact that we are playing outside of Florida in a warm and dry environment that isn't inductive to cramping almost offsets any type of problems with time. We may even tackle better as a result.
