Tim Williams just tweeted-position change

Sorry, we have been diluted over the last few seasons. I cannot get on board with Gaines being solid or anything close to Miami quality.

Bingo. I could never see him being in the middle of our better defenses. He would be a great guy to have a towel waving above his head on third down and come in whenever the middle backer needed a break. But People wonder why we suck on defense then defend all our avg. players when you say they arent miami material. Plus he has wayy too much sunshine in his life. Good role player, never the centerpiece of a true miami defense, only if you like defenses ranked in 100s

I guess Vilma had way too much sunshine in his life because he smiled alot here and was 3.5 gpa guy and took academics seriously.. You guys kill me with the sunshine bs lol

Tim Williams would thrive as a 3-4 rush linebacker. Holy ****.

Chickillo would do very well as a 3-4 weakside end, as well. It seems obvious to me that we have been recruiting 3-4 personnel for a while, or at the very least we are moving into a 3-4/4-3 hybrid scheme. You simply don't ask college defensive linemen playing a 4-3 to 2-gap it unless you are preparing to move to a 3-4. Might solve a lot of defensive issues, IMO. Given, my knowledge of football is somewhat limited, but who is left to rush the passer in a 2-gap 4-3 scheme? It doesn't make any sense that we would do that unless we were preparing to move to a 3-4. We will likely find out in the Spring.

What's Miami material? Not every player is a superstar, not every player makes the NFL, not every player starts. There are a ton of players through the years that were important players/helped win games on Championship teams that if they played now you guys would call them "not Miami material."

Gaines is adequate.

I fully predict he starts half the season next year until Kirby comes into his own.

this. chris campbell started on a national championship team and so did james lewis.

George Mira jr. also comes to mind.

Gaines would be a great off the bench player in my opinion. Im sorry he has had numerous chances to be a dominant player and he has not produce. That being said it would be nice having that man child Reuben Foster in the middle for us next year.

I dont think any of them were the middle (qb) of the defense. Not saying he is trash, just think he is a decent player with limited upside who should come off the bench. Hope he proves me wrong if he starts. Also was a big fan of james lewis and could never understand how he didnt get atleast a shot at the big leagues..

MLB is the spot to play a guy with somewhat limited athleticism but the "white guy skills", high motor, football I.Q, always around-the-ball etc. Think Tedy Bruschi or as I said earlier, George Mira jr.

I think the coaches will put the best 11 on the field. I trust that Al knows what he's doing. So, need to speculate on who we think will start

I'm a huge Tim Williams fan. He may be undrweight right now but he's strong as ****, takes good angles, and doesn't rely on just blowing by the offensive tackles. I really really hope he commits because by year 3 in this program he could be an absolute monster with a complete game.

You guys ready for the paranoid post?..... here it comes..... LSU is done recruiting DE's as they have already 5 committed for this class..... or you could go down the.... FSU loves there OLB to pass rush more than they drop into coverage..... Wonder which of the two is the first one someone picks up and runs with.

FSU LBs had 2 sacks last year. LSU generally relies on pressure from the front 4 and has smaller linebackers (generally). That said, FSU might be transitioning to a 3-4 with their new DC and rumored LB coach, and Bama is a team where Williams would fit as a linebacker (though not a great fit as their edge guys are usually stockier). Williams is also definitely a fit in our system as a hybrid. Don't really see this changing too much with his recruitment as it's the same position he would play here and Bama (and maybe FSU if they are moving to a 3-4, if not, he's not a very good fit as an OLB for them at all).

Al Golden says you can't just recruit A players. You need a mix of A's and B's so you have good chemistry and culture. You need some grinders.
