Thursday Recruiting Chatter - 1/31

Are you going to tell me Jackson and Johnson aren't getting drafted? Although I see Johnson as a situational guy at best at the next level. I'm actually fairly optimistic on what we have on roster coming back. We need another frontline corner in this class, but we can manage.

I am not losing sleep over a Pensacola kid wanting to head to MSU. I would have been surprised if he came to Miami. It's an 11-hour drive.

Michael Jackson was coached by Rumph. And you are going to tell me he didn't get better from 2016 when he was a rotational player? Let's see what Rumph does with his room this year. He's got talent.

And yet we are sitting with the #1 pass D. But the man can't coach, and can't develop players.

I guess we got the #1 pass D from VooDoo or Harry Potter's Magic Wand.
Take the glasses off fam u seem smart bro, he was brought here to deliver those AH boys for pull in sfla yet he hasnt even been ok hes whiffed every elite target.

To recruit some f*cking studs at his position. I mean ...also his job. I dont see why folks act like Rumph is some "In the arms of an angel" somalian hungry kid with a fly swirling around him in an infomercial.
He is paid pretty well here to coach and recruit cbs...enough with the excuses going on 4 classes. Sh*t the bed this year we should explore other options and open up a coaching spot

He's also loaded with bluechip recruits at cb. Only 1 player not a 4*. So again what's the complaint based on evidence and production compared to his peers.

He played a bit better in 2017 than he did last year. But his progression was expected.

Michael Jackson is the sole guy he can hang his hat on...and Michael Jackson was a rotational player before rumph got here. This year is a big year for him considering these will all be "his guys" im very interested in watching the development ...just like you. We have some raw kids at cb but alot of talent and length.

I honestly think we should dive back in the portal for a grad transfer cb

It's absolutely nuts to continue bashing and singling out a guy that's given you the #1 production in cfb at his position. Nuts.

I'd rather go the portal route and pick up a kid who can reasonably round out the rotation or maybe a kid who has to sit one year. You can test drive a grad transfer without much risk. Getting a kid who has to sit unless we can bargain shop isn't worth it.

If the rumors were true, retaining Rumph was not a slam dunk. I think this is his option year quite frankly. If his kids take a huge step back or don't progress, then I think he gets fired and rightfully so.

I expect Blades and Ivey to step up this year along side Bandy but I'm with @gogeta4 on this one.
A grad transfer cb can only help and make me feel more at ease.

Michael jackson wasn’t no **** rotational player before rumph got here, he only played 4 games as a freshman mostly on special teams

Richt told you that? I'm interested in finding out how you know the reasons Richt hired coach Rumph.

There really wasnt that much of another reason (other than him being alumni) we have/had GA's and consultants that had more coaching experience than he did. He essentially should have had the job that DVD and Cooney have while they are learning nad gaining experience. He was forced to learn on the job...and that hurt him in the recruiting portion something he NEVER had to do.

He played just as much as Blades played this year as a true freshman and was on all specials. What more was he suppose to play?

Richt told you he was hired cauee he thought he'd deliver two 5* CB's?
So why was he hired? obviously alot of guys can coach but the big reason (writing o nthe wall) was he was tide to those kids when he was hired everyone on this forum said good we gettin tyson and ps2 then.

Demarcus came right from retiring. I guess Cooney would be a better comparison but he was an OC at Southridge. Is it unusual for a successful local high school coach to be hired as a position coach at the next level? Nope. Was he brought in to deliver the AH kids? I believe so. Nothing wrong having a local, successful high school coach on staff. Was Mike the right one? Debatable.

Again, I think this is his make or break year.
