Thomas says he is visiting starting tomorrow

Did you not see that kids eyes light up when talking about AG? Coach Golden is in this kids ear! Know I feel like he will be a cane, cause AG can close with the best of them and he is local and you know Ag is selling that hard. This totally reminds me of Tracy last year. I feel it, this is going down!

"How would you guys compare him to a talent like PP or maybe some other top kids in the past? Is he an elite game changer prospect like a Duke or PP?"

He is like neither, although he may be very good. Peterson was going to make a run at being the best CB in college football, and that was obvious from high school. Duke was going to be a brilliant talent, perhaps without a true every down position, and an instrumental recruiter in a critical time.

I would love us to get Thomas, but his impact would be different from those you mention if he comes.

#1 Peterson was going to make a run at being the best CB in College football the same way I believe Matthew Thomas will one day (soon) make a run at being the best LB in college football. Based on what I've seen live and on the internet, Thomas the #1 talent in the state of Florida this year.

#2 Duke was going to be a brilliant talent without an every down position? Duke Johnson? What? He's an every down running back. He's 5' 9" 190 as a true freshman, but he was the best short yardage back we had on the team as a freshman and a natural inside runner despite his size. He'll likely leave Miami at 5' 9" and approaching 210, which will be bigger than Clinton Portis.

Will Matthew Thomas' career trajectory be different than the two above? Meaning, will he step in as a True Frosh and light the world on fire in the same way? Well, maybe not. He's only 210 or so pounds right now and he'll play a position that requires body development (strength) moreso than "skill" positions like RB or CB. That doesn't really make him very different to the two above because:

(a) He can actually be drafted just as high as PP
(b) Be a complete gamechanger on defense, as a guy who can drop in coverage OR rush the passer
(c) He's just an athletic freak who happens to be a natural football player.

I don't know if Thomas will come here and I don't have the greatest feeling about it, but it doesn't make him any less of a prospect. He's the best prospect in Florida. The reasons guys like Olsen (because we need a QB after Morris) and Collins (because we need to keep Duke Johnson alive and Collins is very talented) are more important than Thomas has more to do with technicalities rather than sheer talent, which was the question posed.

Ok, I want you to take back that you would trade all that plus Kirkland, Coley, and Collins for Keith!

Noles will say that he's actually laughing at Miami being brought up

Either he knows for sure that he's coming here or he is just trying to placate his friends and family that want him at the U. A mid week visit before heading to Tally is not a great sign, but who the **** knows.

I don't know. You can spin it different ways. He's taking days off school to come to our visit, shows more of a commitment....or, if he knew he already wanted to go to UM why would he bother with a midweek visit.

It's been very confusing with MT. We try and apply our sensibilities to these kids, and we don't always think about things the same way. He flashes the 305 and we think "This kid loves Miami, no way he leaves"....but who knows, to him the 305 could be just about HS.

Really wish FSU didnt get him right after us, but **** at least he's visiting. Some hope is better than none.

I have a GOOD feeling he doesn't go to the FSU visit.

Simply a feeling.

He will be getting his **** sucked by 5000 raucous Canes fans tonight. In front of a national televised audience.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Golden still has his in-home as well right?

If so, this is over

Couple of questions...

How was everyone feeling on tracy howard at this point? Not good right?

And do we have an in home set up with him?

“I can’t wait to get up to Tallahassee this weekend,” mentioned Thomas. “I just want to hang with Coach (Jimbo) Fisher, chill with Coach (James) Coley and just the guys on the team. My dude (Devonta) Freeman is up there. He’s probably going to be my host. We’ll have a good time.”

Can he chill with Coley in Miami?

Gonna have problems chilling with Coley in Trailerhassee. Might wanna stay in Miami to do that. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I am currently an Undergrad at Miami.. Consider me the bridge/gateway/escort between CIS and BigSix. I'm gonna find Matthew on campus and show him some serious love, im gonna make this dude wish he never even thought about going elsewhere. Wish me luck boys

:ibisroflmao: "wish me luck boys".

Thanks for the clarification. I can read, and read the question differently.

We shall see. Based on your responses two things will need to happen:

1. Matthew Thomas will become a top 5 NFL pick.
2. Duke will be a full time RB in a pro style college system.

You may be highly prescient, but it is extremely difficult to project #1 right now when Thomas has yet even to grow into a position that requires growth. CBs get more leeway in that area than LBs and Peterson came in to college at a listed (for whatever that is worth) 6'1" and 197. That's a big CB in the NFL today. As to #2, read your response above in light of your framing of the question. Was Duke a game changer prospect at full time RB? We're talking about before he ever got here. A game changer? Yes. As a full time RB? Again, no, and he wasn't used as one last year. And let's not get off track with size comparisons, Duke and Portis are very different backs, each having strengths the other would envy.
