This Year's Talent Trade:

No comparison with the seniors vs these incoming freshman. Canes have some **** good players coming in.

While I enjoy that we get highly rated recruits and kids that look good in their highlight films, I generally am against people saying we have good players coming in when they have yet to prove anything on the field. This is the kind of thinking that starts these same types of threads in 2-3 years when players don't become what we thought. There are very few sure things as far as how well kids will perform at the next level.

For all we know some of these guys could turn out just like the seniors that they are replacing.

I think its fair to do some level of extrapolating here. For example, at QB, out is Stephen Morris, who was a 2 star recruit (only getting his 3rd star after UM offered). He played his career like a 2 star. Kaaya is a top shelf, elite 11 finalist who is a high 4 star recruit. That merits saying we have a talent upgrade at QB.

One man's opinion….

…and his thread. :)

I think more than anything, we are getting players in now that our coaches recruited themselves that will not have to "buy" into their system. They've already bought into the system. One less thing they have to worry about. who knows were Luther Robinson, seantrell and Curtis would be if they would not have fought the process from the beginning. They wasted like two years fighting the process, valuable time in their development.

For the record, I don't think the new guy is "better", however, I do believe they are coming in with a different mentality, which I think will be huge, see AQM last off-season.

i truly believe jamal carter, artie burns,AQM, and Jermanie Grace will make tracy howard style leaps in improvement. those kids are not your average talent, they are special. I think Figs will be much improved also.

Agree! I think the step up in production from the younger defensive guys on the roster is a lot more significant for this coming year than the incoming freshmen.

I could see AQM becoming a BEAST this year after an offseason of utough and a full summer. Remember, he was actually a late arrival.

I would also add Corn Elder to your list of guys who I think make a big leap.

Then there are guys who have been slower developing but still hopeful for: Jelani Hamilton and Rafael Kirby. If they get thing figured out that would be HUGE because they have the physical ability. Remember, they were only true sophomores last year, so I don't think it's fair to write them off yet.

AQM had skinny legs yet he was getting pressure on winston in fsu game. him and tyriq can be lethal. Kirby didn't really play fresh year because of injury. However, when coaches started giving him pt later in year and got over their silly loyalty to Gaines, Kirby showed he plays at a much faster speed than gaines. He also isn't afraid of contact.

I like corn a lot, just not sure he will be fully recovered.

And people really think we are going to be worse next year? Getting rid of that senior class will be huge going forward.

OL should be a + Linder was the only one that will be missed on OL. Henderson never lived up to hype and disappointed us more than he awed us. Wheeler had a handful of good games at the end. KC and Trevor have unlimited potential and Little Linder has the ability to match what his brother did here.
