This Year's Talent Trade:

Just look at those defensive players (minus corners). We lose 10 guys who truly JAGS. The most productive probably being Shayon Greene.

We replace them with top talent at every position, obviously we have to see how they get coached up, but golden and donofrio are gonna look a lot better with these studs on the field than they did with cornelius, highsmith and this gang

I agree. Big upgrades everywhere. My fear is they might get coached down not up. The last 8 years it seems freshman year is to many kids' beat year. With the talent coming on board this years is all about the coaching staff. Can they or can't they coach. We have heart of HS NC defense, player of the year in CA, prime beef on oline, 4, count them 4 actually DTs, good QBs to pick from in stead of settle for, another super star RB, big upgrades at WR--talent and size. For me this year, no slack. I want this staff to beat FSU with the talent we have. After last year and the stubborn refusal to change and the failed attempt to jump ship, nothing short of beating criminoles is good enough this year. Last year I was ok if we beat everyone but the rapist consorters, but since we got embarrassed by everyone, I need feathers to go with the gator scales from last year. If not, then mid season firing is in order and get someone like Chud on board early to avoid recruiting damage. Oh, if frigging Loservile beats us in opening game then nothing short of a complete slaughter of the feathers is good enough. No more time. Fish or cut bail.

Most importantly we upgrade at Nickel LB in Jermaine Grace and second team safety with Jamal Carter and Kiy Hester!

I agree 100% that we really upgraded this year. You can really see it when you say Shayon Greene was the most productive as he only had 1 sack is his 4 year career which is almost impossible to believe.

It is pretty easy to see the major upgrade in talent.

Losing Linder, Henderson, Bunche, O'Donnell, Hurns and Hagens was somewhat of a big deal.

All except O'Donnell can be replaced.

Look for Felicano, Gall and Isadora to step up on the OL.

Hurns's production can be replaced. We have great WRs in Scott, Dorsett, Waters and that bum Coley.

Hagens was a good FB, who knows what Tucker can do?

O'Donnell was an excellent punter, he will be difficult to replace. Hopefully we don't punt as many times next year.

The bottom line is most of these guys are easily replaceable on the OP's list. I would also say the upgrades were pretty dramatic (see Highsmith and Rodgers for Hester and Gayot).

the incremental upgrade should start showing results.

I strongly agree. The defensive upper classmen were left in for some sort of gratitude by AG and D'o, but with the young talent we had and the new blood on D I expect a significant upgrade on the field because they HAVE talent to go to a more aggressive D.

Not only is there is big talent trade but our most talented players and players with highest ceilings on our team return and will have another year of development: Duke, Stacy, Howard, McCord, AQM, Perryman, Bush (finally healthy), Burns, Flowers, etc.

If these coaches can develop this team should take another step next year.

In reality this matters more than the incoming talent vs departing players.

You see Hester and Gayot starting next year?

While I enjoy that we get highly rated recruits and kids that look good in their highlight films, I generally am against people saying we have good players coming in when they have yet to prove anything on the field. This is the kind of thinking that starts these same types of threads in 2-3 years when players don't become what we thought. There are very few sure things as far as how well kids will perform at the next level.

For all we know some of these guys could turn out just like the seniors that they are replacing.

the one thing that this staff has proven is that time and time again is that they can develop punters.

I think its fair to do some level of extrapolating here. For example, at QB, out is Stephen Morris, who was a 2 star recruit (only getting his 3rd star after UM offered). He played his career like a 2 star. Kaaya is a top shelf, elite 11 finalist who is a high 4 star recruit. That merits saying we have a talent upgrade at QB.

One man's opinion….

…and his thread. :)

aj and rodgers get a lot of flack but gaines sucked too. he didn't do anything but push people out of bounds. his stats for a mlb horrific. complete scrub.

Props to OP for the extremely eye opening post.

It's almost night and day when you compare the talent level of the incoming class to the graduating class.

With the exception of Hurns, Hagens, Linder, and Henderson, we won't be missing much.

hurns over achieved and henderson under achieved. hagens and linder were consistent

Only change I believe is +++ over OT, love OT, but what he did Crawford will do, however, Yearby coming in after Duke and the two others beat teams up will be explosive. Also, the Dline is ++ in my opinion. I am a big fan of Luther and curtis, wish they would have played for us at another point. good team players, but not what we needed to carry us. Just like OT.
