This won't be Mario's best or most talented team at Miami..

Wait Mario has been here for not even 3 full years yet, inherited IMO the worst culture program in America, and has program trending up, and your point is Mario has lost more as double digit favorites than Alabama and Ohio State?

Can we evaluate starting points? Is that the hill we are going after Mario for? GT last season when TVD became Santa Claus Miami was a big favorite, any other games last season where Miami was heavily favored they lost?

I imagine Miami can get better and more talented, have really good seasons, and still have a game somewhere they get upset.

My stance is Mario is a good Head Coach. He isn't the best head coach. I think he is a good fit for Miami. I think he has greatly improved the roster. I think he can still finish with a very very good season. I think now with a sign of success the caliber of player brought in can rise another level.
miami will never have the season theyre getting from Cam Ward again. book it. that is covering up a lot of holes and a lot of losses. i know some of you like to place blame on him rather than the defense or other holes on the roster, but hes covering up A LOT including OL (yall forget the FSU game when we got spanked at the line?).

the roster has more talent, but they havent performed especially on defense. the WR room has been really good this year. the TEs are good. the RBs have been good.

this season so far has been great minus GT. the reality is though we knew this was coming when Cam wasnt gonna be his usual self and needed someone else to step up. we escaped against Duke, VT, Lville, and Cal. we all know without the QB, were staring at likely another 4-6 loss season again. next year is going to be rough if we dont land another cam ward type in the portal.

Last year it's "keep stacking classes."

This year it's "keep stacking classes."

Next year (without Cam) "keep stacking classes."

When is it supposed to pay off?

Mario is the same as Richt. Always on the cusp. Can't ever get over the obstacles.

It's how Kirby took over for Richt and took them to the final gear.

And Lanning taking over for Mario and took them to the final gear.

Year 3 and he's fielding the worst defense in program history to help sabotage the #1 offense in the nation. You couldn't make that up.
Relax, we are 9-1. This season is starting to "pay off". This isn't the worst defense in school history either. Big hyperbole.

I didn't know Lanning took them to the final gear? He hasn't accomplished anything as yet, even though he inherited a double digit win program. He literally hasn't won a conference title yet. I don't think he wins a conf title this season either, and I don't think Oregon is winning the National title either.

Even with all that talent teams still lose.
How much talent will he need to consistently beat 10 point plus underdogs ?
Let’s keep it real here a minute. Kalen deboer at bama is considered by many to be a badass coach and scheme guy. He lost to vandy and Tennessee. Two teams he’s got way more talent than. Then they get up and beat lsu and Georgia. Sometimes college gonna college.

I don't really care that we lost one game. It's watching the defense regress week after week that should raise all kinds of flags. I would love one of the gurus on here to do a side by side comparison of SMU's defense and ours. Scott Symons seems to be improving his defense week after week. They are actually generating a pass rush and creating turnovers. Now if SMU has far superior talent defensively compared to us, this is all moot. Guidry's game prep seems to be non-existent.

You're crowning Lanning a bit pre-maturely I am afraid. Let him win it all first, which is absolutely not a given.

Plus Lanning walked into a situation where he had a team full of stacked talent. Marios last 2 classes at Oregon were in the top 10. Would have loved to see what Mario could have done by year 3 if he had walked into a situation like that here at UM.

I trust Mario's ability to fill the roster with great/elite talent.

I don't trust Mario's ability to prepare his teams for Saturday's.

I also don't trust Mario's ability to make quality decisions on Saturday's.

I expect Miami to be a regular 10-2 team that will compete for the ACC/CFP with half of the games on the schedule being close calls and/or filled with head scratching decisions.

For a program with one 10 win season in the last 20 years..I am honestly hoping you are attempting to say that your last sentence isnt a bad thing right?

Folks..lets make sure we are reminding ourselves that our games were being broadcasted on BALLYS network at one point a few years ago. BALLYS NETWORK! Not ACC Network..BALLYS! Let that sink in for those who have just taken a pill and decided to erase what level our program was the last 3 years.

What I meant by it is we'll be a **** good team but I think Mario's coaching will prevent us from being elite. Certainly better than the previous 20 years but I think he'll keep us from being where we COULD be with the talent he'll bring in.

Just my opinion.

If we’re going by that Mario went 5-7 with far more “ talent “ than most teams we played. Then 7-6. Deboer had a lot of turnover , guys leaving and having to set his own culture. He’s shown over history he’ll win at a high percentage. So that comparison is silly imo. Taking Washington to a natty title game has earned him that.

Here’s the deal for some of y’all trying to compare Mario’s awful record ats and as a huge favorite to other coaches is nuts . He’s in his own stratosphere with this . We’ve all seen the numbers / statistics and they’re mind boggling. No matter the talent odds are he’ll drop a minimum of one game per year as a big favorite , history has shown it’ll likely be more. I’m ok with that because most of us understood this before we hired him.

I was just like most of you guys desperate to be relevant and I was confident he’d get us there even though I understood he’d occasionally smack a mail box with the Porsche. That’s just who he is. Saturday was just unacceptable. Playing a team with a armless qb and showing their strategy by who was under center but still could t adjust. It was high school level bad , maybe worse. I won’t defend that no matter how much some of the cultist try.

He’s also had more financial backing than any coach in schools history and by a country mile. From money for recruits , unlimited staff / off field staff to facilities. Sorry I expect him to be beat 10 point dogs with a qb that can’t pass. Which everyone saw in pregame. Some people just get a tad annoyed by seeing this way more than they should. Nobody has said fire your lord and savior , he earned it against GT……..AGAIN.

Well, they do have Jared Harrison-Hunte, Jahfari Harvey, and Elijah Roberts…

🤷‍♂️

Inexcusable loss. But my only pushback is according to your metric (and alot of posters metrics on here so this isnt just directed at you) is there wouldnt have been a loss on the schedule that would have been deemed okay then. I would even take that all the way to the ACC title game. Losing to Clemson (who we beat last year with a 3rd string QB), Pitt, or SMU would have been unacceptable. So the only acceptable loss might have been in the semifinals of the CFP since we would have gotten a bye under that scenario. That would be fair but not sure that was our goal when the season started especially when you look back at the preseason predictions thread on here. Jmo.

You don’t care that a 9-0 Miami team ranked 4th lost to a 5-4 Ga Tech team that had a banged up qb who couldn’t throw more than 20 yards? Oh ok then.
