This staff needs to stop taking silents

No, the staff needs to win games.

Then, publics, silents and everything else take care of themselves.

Too many times it never works out. Programs like Clemson and LSU don't take silents and some don't even let commits visits, threatening to pull offers because of it. These kids nowadays tell staffs they are committing to keep a spot and wait for the big time offer they want and then switch. Idk if we are at a level where we can threaten pulling scholarships from big time recruits like Clemson does but something has to change bcuz we are getting played wayyyy too much.

Bcuz it's not real is my whole point! They get told they are committed but are gonna keep it quite. They hold onto the spot and then stop recruiting other players because of it. They go to the media and say "we have silent commits". Fans take that and get confident and then the sky is falling when the supposed silent goes elsewhere. But, the biggest thing is these coaches get played. They take what the kids are selling, stop recruiting other players, and then get left out to dry. Let's take Ingraham for example. DT, position of need, now we are trying to get into the game late with DT targets who we didn't recruit because we thought we were getting Ingraham. So, unless a player is ready to make the whole world know that they are committed, tell that person we are going to continue to recruit players. And, if they are committed and still taking visits, then we will continue to look around. You look, we look. Clemson takes offers away if players visit, will not accept their commitments. Alabama, Oklahoma. All the same. When we were recruiting Dean, once he visited, his offer was pulled. It's not just talk, its fact. I'll use Clemson as an example. Look at Ladson, has he taken any visits since he committed to Clemson? No. Because he wants to go to Clemson, he doesn't want to mess it up. Clemson told him "Do not commit unless you are truly committed." It works out kinda well for them. They have had 2 decommittments since 2012. It's not just winning either. 10-4, 11-2, 11-2, 10-3 from 2011-2014. Had consistent top 15 classes each year after those seasons with multiple NFL prospects in each of those classes, with highest being the 4th ranked class after going 10-3 in Watson's first year. We just went 10-4 in Richts 2nd year coaching here. They tell every recruit the same thing. Even the high profile 4/5 star recruits that can go anywhere in the country. Commit and shut it down. There's no drama every year for Clemson for this reason. Here? We get played every year by recruits, even with Richt. Last year, we all knew who the ride or dies were bcuz they didnt waver, they all were committed, didnt even take visits most of them and we all loved them for it. Now how about since we knew Jobe was looking, to be recruiting Samuel all year long? Maybe we find another DT since Chatman had played games all year long? Maybe the year before we recruit a different RB in case McFarland doesn't commit? No. We get played and you all question the staff on what they are doing. But I guess saying "Lets not get played" is blasphemous.

It is not that deep. I am not going to read the rant but lets say Ingraham committed publicly like you are crying about. Then today he decides flip to Bama, are we not in the same position? Did the coach no stop recruiting other players like you suggested Richt and Co. are doing right now?

Clemson recruits still take visits Ray Ray and Deion still took visits. They are not going to drop you if you are a highly recruited player. Again Bama, Ohio State, etc taken silent commits. If you live in fantasy world.

Well if you read the paragraph of info, you would have seen that I said if Ingraham continues to take visits, you continue to recruit in case Ingraham does what he did. That way, you aren't just starting on kid, you would have already had a relationship with the kid

All the teams that get brought up as examples all do the same thing I am saying to do. If you want to stay silent and take visits, we will continue to recruit players. Its why Ingraham is a new commit lol

It's not "Win and the recruits will come." It's "Get the recruits and then you will win." Saban didnt take over a powerhouse team, he made them a powerhouse. Dabo same thing. Notre Dame was having down years before and during Brian Kellys reign and they get recruits still. LSU have had down years too, no problem with recruiting. In the top 25 and big time programs, only a couple of those coaches took over teams that were ready to win right away and did and recruited well from the start at the same time, Oklahoma and Georgia come to mind. So we need to stop with the "We need to win first" talk bcuz it's just not true. It has been proven not to be true. You can either recruit or you can't. This staff has done a good job with recruiting, I'd give them a B. But to sit here and say they havent gotten played and that they are aces in recruiting and are being held back bcuz they havent won enough? Stop kidding yourself. And every one on this board is ****ed off when we lose to Virginia. If you want to beat your chest and say "We are Miami! We can't lose to Virginia!" and then turn around and say "Well we arent Clemson or Bama or any of these other teams, we can't hang in recruiting with them" then what are we doing here???

The problem isn't the kids so much as its been a problem of not being adequately prepared.

This isn't our first rodeo being left with our d!ck in our hands after a surefire commit we've had penciled in since Day 1 left us at the alter...we just never have a real, bondafide backup plan ready...nor do we have enough plan A kids that we've evaluated. We pass on so many local kids and just not recruit them with real efficacy. Its mind blowing the lack of evaluation by our current and previous three regimes. Completely ill prepared for this ****. Like, they show up the day of a test not having read anything by the table of contents.

It's less about not taking "silent" commitments as it is about changing the definition of what making a commitment to the University of Miami means. In other words, if we take your commitment it means you have to turn off the recruiting process by other schools-- no visits, no in-homes, nothing. In other words, we keep recruiting your position until you stop being recruited.

This is my thinking, yes. I just used silents as an example since it's fresh to us now.

If they do stop taking silents, how will we know?

What we need to do is not stop recruiting. **** a silent. Stack chips. If we have too many come signing day, **** it. Somebody gets their feelings hurt and has to sign with FAU, FIU or USF. Who care if we burn some bridges with these unloyal hoes down here at this point. Stack mother ******* chips like the big boys.

LOL! Is Clemson losing to 2-3 a year to the likes of UVA and Pitt?

My gawd
We aren't either

We lost to Pitt, they lost to Syracuse, we lost to UVA they'll lose to someone like they always do. Two years ago they lost to Pitt

Your example is idiotic because Clemson is known for that. If you're gonna be *****y and moaning at least be smart about it

Typical idiot reply from a fluffer.

You're comparing us to Clemson team that ran the table after losing last year and that's a game they lost WITHOUT their starting QB, lost to Pitt the year before and ran the TABLE and won the NC........after we lost to Pitt...what did we do? We lost 3 games str8 heading into this year. We have more talent than Wisconsin and still got our *** beat in the bowl game.

Stupid idiots keep picking one game from these elite programs while we lose 2-3 of these games A YEAR going back 12-13 years.

How do you explain the stretch that Clemson had from 2011-2014 where they had 1 season where they lost 1 game. Every other season was 2-4 losses. They had this same recruiting theory. Do not commit to us unless you are truly committed and will stop taking visits? They've had 2 decommittments since. 2. They weren't running the table and they were getting top 15 classes a year. Culminated by a 4th ranked class after going 10-4

You mean when Dabo was still learning and before he got uber elite players like Deshaun Watson and took less money so he could pay uber elite coordinators?

We're comparing that to Richt who has 18 years as a HC doing the same thing.

WTF in the world is going on here...

Lol yea I'm comparing an 18 yr HC who gets played still to a HC who has had the same recruiting approach since he started there. Who's the better recruiter? Richt has the staff that he wants so talking about Coordinators is a null point. Blake James has shelled out the money to not only get this staff but to keep it, as we have only had one staff member leave under Richt. And Dabo went 11-1 2 years before Watson got there. Had recruited uber elite athletes like Mike Williams, Sammy Watkins, Tajh Boyd, and many other players before Watson even stepped foot on campus. So again, explain why we can't hold this staff accountable for their mistakes? This is the University of Miami, we need to stop getting played

Dabo was learning on the job and still didnt let recruits decommit on him and play him. Richt has been doing this for 18 years and it has happened more in this year alone the Dabos entire tenure. Thank you for making my point

What you're doing is comparing the ascent of Dab Swinney with his first time ever as a HC and comparing that to Richt who had 15 years under his belt at a major program before coming here. This is stupid af....it shows your lack of intelligence and understanding. Were you an ESE kid in school? Had to be.

Do you follow cfb or just act like you do? Clemson has NEVER recruited like they are now...going back 5 years.
Sure they got one or two elite guys but not 2-4 5 starts per cycle like now.

Boyd was 2009 and that class was ranked 37th
Williams was 2013 and that class was ranked 13th
Watkins was was 2011 and that class was ranked 8th
Watson was 2014 and they were 11-2 before Watson got there, not 11-1...this means what exactly? They lost to FSU and their 2013 NC team and a top 15 ranked SC team in a rivalry game...What exactly were you saying again? Nothing...

You fools keep comparing us to Clemson and we've scored 6 points the last two games we've played them. Wake up

I guess you never went to school since you don't know how to read. What i am saying and have been saying the entire time is we need to have a different recruiting strategy bcuz we get played way too often. Dabo has kept the same recruiting strategy his entire time of being a Head Coach. Do not commit if you are not shutting it down. He's done that at the beginning with 3/4 stars and he does it today with every player he has recruited. Why can't we do that when he has done it from the start at Clemson. So when they haven't been the dominant program they are today they still did it! Why can't we?

If you want to use somebody that has had success in college before taking over than lets use Harbaugh. How many times do you see guys commit to Michigan and then back off their pledge? Not many. He has no national titles as a coach, no super bowl rings, so he's not on Saban level and even Richt has a better resume than him. Yet he doesn't lose any recruits either. Why are we losing recruits? Its because we let them go! They take visits, they get recruited as hard as anyone. We let them do this. And we are shocked and upset when they pick someone else.
