7on7 is by far most important for DBs. Still, it's just part of the things you take into account when looking at a prospect
It's difficult to evaluate Safeties in 7 on 7. At least with Corners, you can get a good look at their feet, hips and general feel. Even then, the game is different when the pads come on. Cool to see athletes, though.
Agree. I was speaking mainly about cbs, and Pete's change of heart on Cole. I never thought Cole was a 5* kid. He is a lot like Tracy and I believe he's a mid 4* prospect. That is why two of the camp offers last year (Mayes and turner) were for CB. Getting to see corners hips, feet, and ball skills right in front of your eyes against top wrs in camp is appealing to coaches.
I really hope we don't make Davante Davis wait until summer for an offer.
Safeties and Corners at loaded this year I don't agree with the rankings that are out but I like the offers we've given out. Davante Davis and Damon Arnette are probably the two other DBs I hope that receive an offer.
Worse comes to worst camp is the final judgement call. You watch the highlights and game film and you're interested. Next step, watch them practice during spring or at a spring game. Not 100% sold on the prospect. Invite them to camp and let that be the next measure of evaluation.
