The Work 1-15

Rumph could be a good secondary coach but he is not a good recruiter. After last year recruiting class was in, I remember reading in one of his interviews him admitting he needs to change some of the ways he was recruiting kids. I guess he hasn't made positive change yet.

Adrian Colbert says hello.

Adrian Colbert was probably the fastest guy on the roster at 6'+ with good agility and a great mindset for corner. There are a lot of coaches who would've had success with Adrian Colbert. The fact that he did nothing at Texas is an indictment of Texas' program, not some proof that Rumph is a miracle worker. Corn Elder was a great college football player. The other CBs we've had have been OK, but certainly nothing at all to make me think that Rumph is this fantastic DB technician who's making chicken salad out of chicken **** as some like to portray. There were lots of times the secondary just didn't get the job done against the Wisconsin and Pitts of the world, let alone Clemson/Bama level programs. You can debate the reasons why but the bottom line is we need a gigantic talent infusion, and we just whiffed on a ton of South Florida studs 2 years in a row.

These dudes keep trying to portray Colbert as one of Jerry's Kids. That dude got worked over by Chuck ******* when he decided to dump on all the vets and go with a youth movement to try to save his job. The fact that Colbert plays in the NFL should tell these dopes that he's always had ability.

I don't get how this man Rumph can *** this up. With everything we have in our favor to land this kid, and to not close is a **** shame.

i know it's almost as if the kid got to choose where he wanted to go

you guys act like rumph told him not to come

Just disappointed that a kid who called Rumph a second father, has family that loves the U, and had been coached by Rumph since optimist decided to go to another school. I like Rumph and think he has done a good job coaching our guys up, but losing a 5* kid like this in your backyard with everything we have in our favor sucks.

And during the dead period where contact is limited somehow UGA won him over

Somehow?? Lmao, they were playing for the NC during the dead period.... that's what won him over.

This happens all the time with SEC schools regardless of if they’re playing in a national championship or not. Every year we have guys that change their minds during the “dead” period. We don’t always seem as active as other marquee programs during that time

**** we we're Tyson's local school and even brought in his so called college mentor as our DB coach and we still missed out on him... It honestly can't get much more embarrassing then that.

posted this somewhere else, but it should go here too since this is essentially a fire rumph thread now. IMO he has yet to actually miss on anybody since Campbell and Surtain haven't even decided yet.

Chris Henderson - probably was Rumphs fault, but lets be real, that kid was a ****ing little b**** . What he did, he deserved to get his *** chewed out for. He couldn't handle getting yelled at and coached up so he decided to run. That doesn't sound like someone I want.

Brian Edwards - imo wasn't good, or deserving of being in this class, especially after seeing who was in the 2018 class. But it appears this was a miss. However I'd argue it was a miss for Banda not Rumph. Everything we heard was that Banda was the main recruiter and those two were tight.

Asante Samuel - wasn't Rumphs fault. Actually, most of the intel has said that Rumph was one of the guys that was fighting for Asante to get an offer from the very beginning. We ended up slow playing him to the point we didn't even recruit him until like a week before ESD. No **** Rumph wasn't able to flip him that late. Again, don't see why people are blaming Rumph for that one if he wanted the kid, but was basically overruled.

Josh Jobe, again if anything this one is on Banda. But actually this kid is just 100% af and was definitely payed to go to Bama. Why is Rumph being blamed for this one?

Campbell, finally a player that Rumph can actually be blamed for that isn't a ****ing total **** *** b**** . Campbell is a top 3 CB in the country, possibly the best. We are competing with UGA and Bama, who were both just playing in the national Championship. Obviously Rumph and he have a good relationship, but its entirely possible the ONLY reason we are even in it is because of Rumph. I mean look at all the schools he's been looking at, they've all been the top schools in the country and out of state: UGA, Bama, Clemson, tOSU and Miami have been the 5 main schools he's looked at from the beginning. Campbell was never an easy get and anyone that thinks he was is an idiot - regardless what his relationship with our CB coach is. Still this would be a loss for Rumph, but lets not act like because we lost Campbell, its 100% on Rumph. LASTLY, this one isn't even over with. Yall a bunch of defeated little pussies.

Divaad Wilson, again how is this on Rumph when we didn't even recruit him because he had "Beef" with other commits, mainly Frierson. I mean if anything thats Friersons fault we didn't go after him. This isn't on Rumph.

Patrick Surtain. I guess this one is on Rumph, but I wouldn't say he "lost" this recruiting battle since we were never in it to begin with. If we have <5% chance at getting someone at best, thats not someone that is a realistic target. Again, probably the only reason we even have that 5% chance is due to Rumph being the coach.

So yall literally want to fire Rumph SOLELY because we MIGHT miss out on Tyson Campbell. If that is your opinion, thats fine, but say that. Dont make up a bunch of other bs reasons to justify it.

wow at this board. I think i predicted this as well. Folks making up every excuse for Rumph.

Yall fight that L so hard. And i dont get why.

Rumph could literally lose recruiting Mike Rumph Jr to FAU and some of yall would say "well his mama breast feeded him, thats on her"

In your post...you have blamed Bags, Frierson(dont know how?), Richt, Banda, Henderson's feelings, all to say what we alreay know....HE SUCKS AS A RECRUITER.

Mike we know thats you...You even suck at Posting.

What you gonna do knowing your going up against Randy Shannon for Bethel and he got the last visit?. Lmao

bags are real.

frierson is apparently the one that had the "beef" with divaad that everyone has been talking about. this isn't just me saying it. Pete has (though dont think he named frierson)

Never said Richt, but if hes the one that overruled Rumph on the Asante Samuel offer, then yeah, he deserves blame for that one, not Rumph. This is pretty simple to understand.

Banda is pretty clearly to blame on a lot of these recruitments. I don't know how you guys dont see that. its kinda ridiculous that yall are just choosing to blame rumph and not banda, who has missed out on more players than Rumph has.

Henderson definitely got caught in his feelings. theres a pretty long thread about it.

If Rumph loses Campbell thats his first loss.

Objectively, Rumph did do a good job with Colbert. Just cause it doesn't fit a narrative doesn't mean it isn't the case.

Still not enough to judge Rumph as a CB coach. Some good and bad signs. We'll learn more this year.

Richt has to make changes on this staff if we want to be back. As simple as that. I get it, great class already, good momentum building season, turnover chain publicity. But lets be honest with ourselves.... If we wanna be Miami again, this is a battle you have to win. Everyone can see what kind of player he can be with their own 2 eyes. Size, hips, speed, not a diva. Simply all the tools to become the player he is projected to be. Major L for rumph. **** lowkey a comedy when you sit back and dissect it. Optimist coach, to high school coach, and 10+ years of knowing the kid and yet you still cant get him. Absolutely baffling. He's bringing nothing to the table, as simple as that. And please miss me with the "development" **** cause if we land the kids we truly want to, they're going to be the goods regardless. Rumph has no track record and its looking like he cant recruit. Kul has one of those and it will pay off in a month.

And a friend of mine who happens to be a gaytor fan screenshotted this and sent it to me saying "yall might as well hire surtain" with laughing emojis. I sent back a fck you text. I could say so many things about his sorry *** 4-7 team, but I know this is an L for us. No way around it.

Catastrophic failure for this program to miss on Campbell. Completely unacceptable. Incompetence of the highest order. **** anyone who is trying to white knight this **** and double **** anyone who was at the throats of the posters who have been seeing through the delusional bull **** for weeks. And Rattler, buddy... idk if you're legit or not, but I wouldn't come around. Right or not, this is going to be extremely ugly for your "cuz"
Yeah after we missed out on Jobe this was a must have pretty embarrassing right now.

Yall trippin. Id rather just hire a 10th coach for special teams, whose main job is to recruit his *** off.

I'm not questioning Rattler because he was in a difficult position. He's a diehard Cane fan and a relative to a top notch recruit that was being heavily recruited by his favourite team among many other suitors.

But, if you're as close to Tyson as you say you are (which I believe) you should feel comfortable picking up the phone and asking him what his intentions are. End the drama!

I don't think Rattler is as hysterical as our fanbase is. Signing day is less than a month away we'll all find out soon enough and only when he signs the papers will the drama end.

He's frequently on a CanesInsight just like the rest of us. If you're coming to a site like this, it's because you want the details before the decision is made. You call it hysterical.. I'm going to choose to call it passionate

We just got the details - it's not looking good. The decision hasn't been made so what would he stand to gain from bothering his family? Would he stand to gain your approval?

Bothering his family? It's a commitment to a football team not life or death. You don't think you could call up your cousin and ask him if he decided on college? He's a football player.. that doesn't mean you have to walk on egg shells around him.

He definitely doesn't have to gain approval from me. But I have good friends who play pro sports and they don't call it "bothering" them when I start talking about their team. I'm comfortable asking them and questioning them. My bad if this situation is more delicate.

Rumph is fooked...

Maybe with a different HC but Richt won't do anything.

Rinse and repeat.

At this point, its down to whether Richt thinks he can coach dbs at an effective, champion-like level. Recruiting is not looking like Rumph's area right now, so he better be able to redeem himself by sending a good product out on the field.

Understatement of the year so far. Third year in a row that our CB recruiting falls apart down the stretch. Rumph must have the personality of a slug. He's supposedly like a father to Campbell yet the kid stiffs us.

Luckily, S. Florida is so loaded with DB talent that you can miss alot of top guys and still have lots of talent. And yes, he's shown himself to be a good Xs and Os coach.

Hire Ed Reed and problem solved.

"I will not take no for an answer" - Tyson Campbell's former head coach and alleged mentor.

Un-f'ing-believable

Asante, Surtain, Jobe, Campbell, leave South Florida while we turn to Nigel Bethel.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Wilson (another kid he knew forever), CJ Henderson, Brian Edwards...off the top of my head.

Swags hes been a failure recruiting almost at epic levels. Coaching at a position where YOU HAVE to be a great recruiter. Good guy, but man if he doesnt land Campbell. He is new orleans safety level from yesterday...like he shouldnt even show up for signing day at the office.
What recruit has an issue with Wilson?

We need to secure that trio of DTs. Extremely important.

Reading the tea leaves .... Frierson.

Lol, isn't that (plus TEs) basically Coach Hartley's job description? Based on what we've seen to date, he's much better at recruiting than coaching STs. It does seem like all our better recruiters (Hartley, Dugans, Searels, and Brown) coach on the offensive side of ball.

So.... should we start “prioritizing” our 2019 LB’s and DB’s now. Let’s see which sofla stud is gonna turncoat next year. Is it safe to say that if anyone gets a 5th star they’re on flip watch or “let’s wait till the very last second to dip on the home team” watch.

all the tough guys from the other campbell threads can finally get it now

The sad thing is you, Valid, and others will never be able to understand what the other thread was about. You all were losing your minds and lamenting over speculation and vibes with no real information. That's why you were rebuked.

The only information we had was TC repped Miami during his playoff games, Rattler had not heard he was pro Georgia, vibes from a rando, and crystal balls. Your and Valid's petulant demeanor are not vindicated in this just because you happened to be potentially correct. Pete has actual info, and you all have a penchant for whining and hanging a noose when there is no info.

Dress up a pig it's still a pig.. I knew he wasn't coming.. He hasn't been pro miami nothing. Rattler was just as much out the loop. **** I worked with Anthony McFarland's mom last year. She was in two of my classes, **** she wore Miami gear all the time. But like we all know it's recruiting. You're a troll if you don't pump sunshine up your *** around here.. Lol

Just grab some DL and focus on 2019. I don't think we need Ezzard and should focus all our ducks on whatever else we like going forward.

THIS.

Which is why it's retarded to pass on Xavier Peters now.

We need to be on every 4/5 star kid around the country, not just in South Florida.

Can someone please explain to me why Rumph can't even get a kid he's coached since optimist to take a OV? Something is not adding up. A simple OV its free!
